this car was bought used november 2014. this is the second issue with this car. first issue was a clutch issue.
now the driver side door latch is broken and will not close! this is a very unsafe problem for a latch that is PLASTIC?!?!
this latch is apparently not under recall, BUT IT SHOULD BE!!!!!
apparently FORD had a Door latch issue!!! this is unsafe and expensive for someone who does not make hardly enough to pay rent! this needs to be recalled!!

An opening door while driving is an extreme danger for young drivers. Anything can happen to either my family driving or to drivers they meet. This should NOT be happening.

HELLO, PLEASE HURRY UP AND RECALL THIS BLEEPING PROBLEM. THIS IS A SHAME THAT FORD WILL STALL OUT IN HOPES OF SAVING A FEW DOLLARS BY HAVING PEOPLE PAY BEFORE ITS RECALLED...THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND A SHAME THAT THEY WOULD USE SOME RINKY DINK PARTS AND EXPOSE THE PUBLIC TO DANGER OR EVEN DEATH.... AFTER I PAY THIS PIECE OFF I WILL NOT BE BUYING ANOTHER FORD UNLESS THEY CAN GET THEIR HEADS OUT OF THEIR BLEEP...

I have a 2013 Ford Focus Titanium which has a broken pawl spring tab, which typically results in a condition where the door will not latch. I was driving down the road as my driver side front door opened and I was unable to shut my door. I have filed a complaint with Ford Corporate, Peoria Ford, Jones Ford, National Highway Safety Administration, contacted a local news reporter who did an article on the same car as mine which Ford ended up paying for after the article was made public, Better Business Bureau, and several other reports made. I have a claim with Ford Corporate however they are denying any internal assistance for fixing this repair due to it being a defective part however not included in the recall currently as 2013 Ford Fusion and 2013 Ford Fiesta is being listed with the same exact problem.
I have been told that to get this fixed I should have had the extended warranty or would have to pay between $500 to $600 to get this defective part fixed or risk injury due to the door not being secured properly. I worry about the other 3 doors as I have 2 kids which I am concerned that the other doors with have the same problem and risk my kid being harmed as myself due to having no choice to continue to drive my car being secured with zip ties. I will never purchase a Ford again as it is clear that this company doesn't care at all about their consumers welfare and risk injury / death over this issue rather then fixing the problem.
As a single mom, with 2 children, I don't have another vehicle to be able to drive to work or get my children to school. Every time myself or all of us get into that vehicle our lives are in jeopardy which Ford doesn't care about until after someone is injured. The dealership tried to force me to sign a waiver stating that Ford was not liable if anything should happen while driving my car which I refused to sign. This needs to be fixed and if / when something happens as a result of this issue Ford will be held responsible for more then just the defective part.
