When this lower motor mount goes bad - the tires will not have any grip when trying to accelerate. Your car will start to handle like an old buick because the engine is moving around in the engine bay as you turn. You will have to slam on the brakes to get any kind of stopping to happen. Throttle response is worse.

There is a vibration you can feel in the steering wheel and through the floor as you are driving. And the engine will become extremely noisy. Best of all, you will be left with permanent interior squeaks once the mount is fixed. I HATE this car! I was aware previous Focuses had issues with motor mounts failing early but I was led to believe they were resolved... apparently not.

I drive a 2014 Ford Focus Titanium. Four days ago, after driving around town , I turned into a parking lot, I was driving less than 5ph, my engine fell/dropped out. The car started shaking and making a horrible noise like I had run over something. I pulled into a parking space and turned the engine off. I started it again to see if I could drive it a few miles down the road to the Ford Dealership. The car shook and as I put it in reverse it made an awful sound, jerked and wouldn't go anywhere. I turned the engine off and opened the hood. The engine had fallen down inside the engine compartment. The Focus was towed to the Ford Dealership and now I'm looking at apx. $5k of damage due to the engine falling. I see on the internet there were two other accounts of Focus engine's falling and numerous complaints about the faulty engine mounts. I made a complaint to NHTSA, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and am in the process of writing letters to Ford Motor Co, Consumer Groups and any other Administration that can help to get Ford to make a recall on this dangerous defect. I am fortunate that I was not driving on the highway or even in town traffic. I shake when I think of what could have happened and how many Ford Focus drivers are taking a serious risk driving with the faulty motor mounts.
