Purchased a 2014 Ford Focus in August 2015, for our daughter who is currently away to college. She states that the car "shudders" all the time when being driven. As a parent this is a huge concern, I investigated the Ford Focus and it didn't take long at all to determine that there are several thousand others in the same condition, as stated earlier our daughter is away at college so it is impossible for us to take care of this situation now. This is very dangerous as several complaints reports state the car loses excelleration and will stall when being driven. Please please help before something really bad happens !!!!!!!!! from what I'm reading Ford is refusing to take action, also reported this to simmons/rocwell where we purchased the car and they stated that other Ford Focus cars that were purchased had tests ran and "no issues" we're determined yet they all reported to have the exact same complaints!!!! I need help as to where do we go from here !!

I received notice of an "important safety recall" from Ford Motor Company in June 2015. I drive 100 to 150 miles a day for work. The dealership is instructed not to replace the fuel pump unless there is a problem. The car has been serviced at least three times since June for unrelated problems. Safety is so important that I received a reminder notice in November. Yet, the dealership is unable to replace the fuel pump until they can prove a problem exists. I have written to Ford Motor Company customer support (see documents attached) only to receive the same response. Ford says there are limited supplies of parts available. The purpose of this complaint is to prevent an injury. Fords notice is clear that a car may stall or stutter while driving, which can lead to a crash. To prevent a crash, injury or death Ford Motor Company should replace defective fuel pumps before they fail. Your attention and intervention may save lives. Sincerely,

I purchased this vehicle from a reputable dealership in town as a used vehicle but with only 20K miles on it. The dealership refused to let me test drive it on the highway citing dealership rules. Everything seemed to work fine. One week after getting car home it began shuddering and failing to accelerate only to rapidly shift gears once it figured out what it wanted to do. When trying to enter highway the car would run through 4 gears before hitting mph causing horrible and sluggish performance. When finally get up to 55 mph or more, the car shutters so bad it is making other parts fall apart and come loose...like the steering and A/C not working properly...I have to go 80 just to get it to reduce slightly. I called up dealer and demanded they repair. Dealer reset transmission to factory defaults which fixed nothing. Took car in 3 more times when finally they admitted it was a clutch issue and put me on a back order list. I waiting 3 months while having to drive an unsafe vehicle but it finally was replaced. To no ones surprise the car performs worse now then it did. Took back to dealer 2 more times, to which I was told the clutch has a 1000 mile break in period. I asked then why didn't anyone say that when I picked it up. Spoke with service manager who keeps trying to tell me they can duplicate the problem...I asked why is it I have the problem 100% of the time I drive it but it never seems to happen when you have it.... I even tried demonstrating but they literally just ignored me and said they didn't hear anything or feel anything...I have reached out to class action lawyers for details on how to sue and get car paid for taken back so I can get a safe car....otherwise I have to drive a known safety hazard.

Ref NHTSA id number: 10787141. Additional information regarding the sputtering and jerking issue. The issue is a huge safety issue. It is also extremely dangerous when driving the car. It is a hazard and I fear that I could cause and accident when I'm operating the car.

Car jerks and shakes. Especially when taking off or on turning vehicle jerks badly. I understand that is when automatic transmission is trying to shift gears. I have had the clutch replaced once already. This causes a huge danger to me because if I would like to try to make a left turn in front of traffic I never know if my car will go or resist. Sons days are so bad that I just give up driving because it feels as if my car will stall. This is not what you expect a car that you've bought new and paid thousands of dollars on to run like daily. Dealership, today, says it's fine. Initial issues date back to August 2014.

After completing a stop, when pressing gas pedal, car/transmission stutters then jerks forward. I've tried accelerating more slowly and then tried it faster with more gas, but it makes no difference. The car won't accelerate fast enough to safely make turns before oncoming traffic. I've had this new car 11 months.

First incident car wouldn't start, 2nd incident took car in for lurching, shuddering, 3rd incident rolling back (car still shuddering) they said this was within normal specs. 4th incident have been ignoring it (because it is normal??!!)... still shuddering, lurching on take off from a stop, also tires are making a "tire sound" secondary to transmission (most likely due to transmission issues)... boyfriend and pep boys say this is not normal that its the transmission. Taking it back in on the 15th of Sept. 2015, very frustrating. Having boyfriend take it back in because we believe that automotive is still a sexist industry. Have 2 case numbers given to me. Certain it is a lemon, not sure where to go from here. Hate my car.

My daughter's Ford Focus shudders and hesitates when switching from 1st to 2nd gear. It is an automatic, but has some sort of internal clutch or similar device according to Ford. It has been doing this for a few months and was taken into the local Ford dealership for repair on June 10. The dealership said they had to order the part and that it was on back order. They are telling us almost 2 months later that it is still on back order with no projected ship date. It is a dangerous situation to have a car that hesitates during acceleration, and I'm concerned about the safety of my daughter and granddaughter when they are in this vehicle. Attempts to escalate this to Ford customer service over the past two weeks have resulted in no new information, no projected resolution and no one at Ford corporate taking responsibility for what I have indicated is a safety issue. Please let me know if there are steps that NHTSA can take to address this situation.

This vehicle has trouble accelerating. When at a stopped position or driving at low speeds and you try to accelerate the car sputters, jumps, and almost stalls out. This is extremely unsafe and increases the likelihood of being hit from behind by another vehicle. We have had this vehicle back to the dealer three times. They are either very inept or just aren't concerned about actually fixing this issue. My daughter took the vehicle in once and they told her she had to drive the vehicle for 1000 miles and the car car would fix itself. My sister owns this same vehicle and is having the exact same issue.
