I purchased this Ford w 15000 miles on it. It now has 37000 miles. I feel like the car is a lemon. I have had several issues requiring me to go Ford dealership. First the gas information was incorrect. It said I had 26 miles to drive but ran out of gas. Then when I was driving on the freeway the car got stuck in between gears. I could not accelerate. Then the I tried to back out of a parking spot and the I could not put car into reverse. As a result car was fixed under warranty and recall. The items fixed were gas tank recall, engine mount, clutch, transmission, and (reservoir tank that was not covered under warranty). I picked up car and next day I drove to work with the same issues. Gears are not shifting. Take bake to dealer and fixed transmission module. Now the power steering does not work. I took it to Ford and they charged me 160$ to look at it. It will cost 1800$ to fix steering. This not covered under warranty. The dealer also said that the suspension needs to be replaced soon. He stated that suspension needs to be replace at 50000 miles my car only has 37000 miles. I have never replaced suspension in any other car. It makes no's sense why this car is falling apart with 37000 miles on it. It's a lemon and I want my money back. I bought this car for my daughter and it is not safe to drive!

'tamara recall'. recently the first week of July 2019 I left work and noticed I cohsot turn my steering wheel. I called red hill Ford and I spoke to one of the new guys and explained to them my power steering was going and it was making grinding noises. They actually told me to drive my car down to the dealership with what I told them. He told me it wasn't my power steering and that it could be something else but I knew since my car was hard to steer and the grinding noise it was making. I drove from allentown down to red hill on route 29 and it was a long ride there. Second, because they told me it cost 2 grand which I didn't have they were going to have me pick it up and drive it again knowing how it was not drive-able. Luckily my parents came through and paid it. Seeing the recalls I never received anything about my power steering rack. Shouldn't this been covered under a warranty or covered since there was a recall? there is no warning light that displays on the dashboard for the power steering and this is dangerous not knowing when your power steering rack is going. Please get back to me and if this should have been covered per the recall. I could have be badly hurt and or hit another car!!

Takata: The problem with the car is if you put gas in the car the car will not start you have to keep turning and pressing on the gas pedal until it register that there is gas in the car. The read will say 98 miles until you need gas but if you dont put gas in before then the car will shut off and that reads at about a quarter tank of gas. Then theres times I get into the car to go and the steering column will lock to where you cant even turn the wheel. I looked it up and I see theres been problem with the steering column plus it lites up in the car steering wheel default I called the Ford but there saying there is no recall on any of the two things im talking about. Its not safe what if the wheel decides to lock while I am driving or the car shuts of because it read 98 miles before you need gas but thats not the case. I was driving out of my driveway and the wheel locked. With the gas was on the road and the car shut off luckily I was close to a gas station.

Yesterday I noticed that my steering seemed a little hard to keep going straight. Today when I got in and started driving my car flashed a "steering failure get checked" message and was even harder to drive. I made it to my appointment and when I left 30 minutes later and turned my car on I had a new message, "steering loss stop safely". now I can't even move my steering wheel. Luckily I wasn't on the expressway going 70 mph when this happened.

My son and I stopped at a rest area on a road trip. When my son started the engine to continue the trip he received the error code "steering assist fault, service now". we went to the nearest Ford dealership who said they wouldn't be able to look at the car for a couple of days and if I was comfortable driving without power steering it wouldn't hurt anything else. Since my 1st car didn't have power steering I decided to give it a go. When we reached our final destination we took the vehicle to a Ford dealer and was told it needed to have the rack and pinion replaced at a cost of $2,400. This seems to be a recurring theme with the Ford Focus. I can only imagine what would have happened if this would have occurred while my son was driving at 65 mph on the New Jersey turnpike.

When turning left or right it would make a grinding noise at all speeds on backroads or highway speeds. Also, when going straight it was difficult to maintain a straight path and takes resistance. When I took it to the Ford dealership they stated it was an electrical issue in the computer for the steering system causing it to malfunction.

The power steering system failure light appeared and no ability to steer the vehicle what so ever since it is electric power steering. My daughter almost crashed into another car while going straight. Was lucky enough to be able to pull into a parking lot. Absolutely no ability to turn the wheel with out breaking it off the steering column. Also had temporary failure when the wintewr temps went well below freezing bur eventually the steering would come back online once the car warmed up (up to 45 minutes). Very dangerous!!!

Power steering went out making it difficult to steer. It happened last night randomly. We drove our Ford Focus to a friends house, turned it off, hung out with them, and when we turned the car back on, it said we needed to get the steering serviced. Two different incidents: (3/13/18) while driving, the power steering went out and the light came on "steering assist fault - service required". after that, pulled over and turned off the vehicle and waited a few minutes before turning back on. After restarting, the steering worked okay again. Had this later checked by astoria Ford, and they could not find anything wrong (even after running the codes). Then on 3/15/19, got in the vehicle and started it and the light came on again. This time even after stopping and re-starting the engine (waiting @ 5-10 minutes) the light remained on and there was no steering. Currently, the vehicle is at a astoria aamco getting checked thoroughly by a very competent, highly experienced mechanic to get this resolved for our safety.

Three separate incidents. All three incidents happened while first starting vehicle, putting vehicle in reverse, and then the steering wheel locks up and a steering assist failure warning comes on. Steering wheel will not move. Had to pull back in to parking spot and turn car off. Upon turning the vehicle back on, the steering wheel is back to normal and the warning is gone. Terrible vehicle. Feel unsafe driving my child in it. Never will buy another Ford ever again.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. While the contact's daughter was driving 50 mph, the power steering warning indicator illuminated and an audible tone was heard. Also, the power steering became inoperable and it was difficult to maneuver the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed. Morrie's minnetonka Ford (located at 13400 wayzata blvd, minnetonka, mn 55305, (952) 546-5441) was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 32,000. The VIN was not available.

While driving on the highway to dinner, a message pops up and states, "steering fault, service soon". during this time, it became a little difficult to move the vehicle around on the road. I managed to make it to dinner. Concerned, I wanted to take it to the dealership. When I started the car that evening (1/8/2019) a new message popped up. It stated; "steering loss stop safely". the steering wheel was essentially locked in its position and hard to move around. I got it to the Ford dealership and they told me it would cost $1,931.35 to fix. This includes about $1,200 for the steering gear (electrical), about $605 for the labor, and another $100 for a new alignment. Are you kidding me? this is a 2014 with only 55K on it. There is no reason the manufacture shouldn't be covering this. There was another car in for the same issue as mine. Looking online, I heard that this is a common problem with the Ford Focus that is seems like hasn't hit that "magical" number to be made a recall. This is my first and now last Ford I will ever buy.
