I was driving normally on a main street and then the car began to violently jerk and would not accelerate as if it couldn't shift into the next gear I pulled over and shut the car off then restarted it with no change I had it towed to Ford where its currently getting serviced which they said might not be covered under warranty after doing some research online it seems that this is a common occurrence I also recently had to have my purge valve replace as well they said that was covered under warrant I believe a recall is necessary in this situation it was extremely dangerous especially at high speeds or that to happen I had the car diagnosed prior to it going to Ford and the code was P090C which said the clutch B actuator control circuit low and my milage is about 72,000

Focus

I was driving on a highway in traffic when my car suddenly just slows down & stops accelerating on its own. When I started it back up, the car would randomly feel like its going into 'neutral' gear on its own & I am not able to accelerate, so again im slowing down in the middle of traffic. After about 2 minutes.. it goes back into regular drive on its own. Seems like some sort of transmission issues. The message on my dashboard says 'transmission fault, service now'. but I never started seeing this message until I got a dead battery replaced.

When the vehicle is in motion on city streets or the highway, my vehicle has erratic shifting, even barely moving from a stopped position. When accelerating slowly after being at a red light, the driver can lightly touch the gas pedal and the Ford will shift gears and feel as though the back tires are jumping or spinning out.

My vehicle's make/model/year (2016 Ford Focus) has a reported recall for a serious safety hazard involving the powershift dual clutch transmission. Online, it states that model years 2012-2016 Ford Focus vehicles have this issue. This type of transmission is considered a manual transmission that is controlled electronically by a computer while using a dry clutch rather than a wet one, meaning oil is not supplied to the shifting mechanism and can result in increased wear and tear the longer the issue persists. When the computer module that operates the transmission can't handle rapid acceleration or speed shifting, the vehicle will sputter and make an audible noise. Other issues that can be caused are problems with downshifting, leaving the vehicle in a higher gear despite deceleration and cause it to "lurch". the main safety hazard this issue causes is when accelerating quickly into an intersection, the delay prevents the vehicle from reaching the same speed a vehicle should achieve with an automatic transmission. In terms of deceleration, the car's inability to correctly downshift caused the vehicle to lunge forward, despite the brakes being applied.

I have a 2016 Ford Focus. 3 months after purchase I took it to service for shaking on accelerating and deaccelerating. I was told broken sway bar links. After they were replaced I brought it in again. I was told it's normal for the powershift transmission and I was not used to it. In March 2019 my transmission dropped into neutral and a transmission failure message was shown. I took my car to service. They replaced sensor and I went to get it. It failed in 5 feet. Took it back and they replaced a second sensor. It failed before I arrived home. This has gone back and forth 8 times. Because my staying home with covid I only put 700 miles on my car between April and November. They have had my car since then except one day. I got 10 minutes from home that night and returned it the next day. They are staying that it's unrelated to the known issues with powershift. But it's never been fixed. They've replaced all 3 sensors twice. And now there's water in my transmission fluid. Once before I made it home and again the day I returned it. They told me that was because I had leaves under my windshield wiper blades that diverted water from the windshield into the transmission. Also I saw in an article that it was stated by a NHTSA spokesperson that Ford was fixing these issues and extended the warranty. I've been told I have the wrong transmission. But I have a dsp6 powershift. The service center refers me to the customer care. Customer cares states that they only take information and can't help or give information. They directed me to the lawsuit hotline. They don't handle warranty. Ford gives you no way to speak to anyone that can explain why my car is not extended. They refuse to look for the source of the water and have replaced sensors repeatedly although that hasn't worked yet. My warranty ends soon and they said if they can't fix it by then I'm responsible for cost

Back in March 2020 I begin to have transmission issues so I took my car to the Ford dealership and with that being said the mechanic proceeded to tell me that they had to rebuild a clutch in my transmission and that the cost of the fix was going to be $2600 I began to tell the mechanic that I did not have that type of money and that I will come get my vehicle the next day because I was at work so the next day while I was at work I get a phone call from the mechanic at that Ford dealership and he tells me that my car is ready to be picked up and that the issue was fixed I began to repeat myself to the mechanic that I did not want to proceed with the six of my vehicle because I did not have the money I also stress this at the Ford dealership where I had to leave my car for three weeks at the dealership because I did not have the money and had to struggle to find the money to get my vehicle back because the fix was already done and after I came up with the money to days later I started having transmission fault issues with my vehicle so is there anyway for it can reimburse me back my money or fix my car free of charge because I was having the same issue

A known defect with the clutch is causing the transmission to slip when switching gears. Ford knows about this defect and yet did not issue a recall/extended warranty for all of the transmissions affected, only some. It's a $1500-$2000 repair and it's ridiculous that we should have to pay for their faulty machinery.

Vehicle shudders when accelerating from a stop. On several occasions my vehicle has stalled while accelerating onto the freeway, putting me at risk of being rear ended. I took my Ford Focus in to a Ford dealership and was informed that my clutch had failed, but that it also had previously been replaced just 2.5 years prior. My car is a 2016 with under 70,000 miles. I was informed of a lawsuit involving the transmission in the Ford Focus for the year of my vehicle, but was then advised that my transmission is not eligible for the settlement and replacement. I have kept up on regular oil changes and vehicle maintenance. The clutch should not fail twice within 3 years.
