I have had a problem with my Ford Focus for months. The car jerks, rattles and shakes when I am driving it. I have taken it back to Ford three times. January 2021, I attempted to get an appointment at Autonation Ford on Phillips Highway Jacksonville, FL. I was told that their repairman had COVID-19 and they could not service my car. I called again and was told that their transmission service man quit and that I had to take the car to Autonation Ford in Orange Park on the other side of Jacksonville. Time 1) I took the car to the dealer in Orange Park on March 16, 2021. They told me that it met specifications and they would not fix it under warranty. Time 2) April 14, 2021, I took it to Autonation Ford in Orange Park. I was told the same story. Time 3) June 17, 2021, I took it to Autonation Ford on Phillips highway In Jacksonville, FL. June 19, 2021, My husband [XXX] talked to the general manager [XXX]. He said he would get back to him in writing. He hasn-€™t. June 21, 2021, I talked to [XXX], the service person at Autonation Ford on Phillips Highway. He said I could pick up the car. He also said that the invoice wasn't complete and he would e-mail it to me. So far, I haven't received it. June 22, 2021, My husband [XXX] contacted Ford Customer Care and obtained a case number from [XXX]. ([XXX]) She said she could not at that time contact [XXX], but she would continue to attempt to contact him and get back to [XXX]. Attempts to contact her at [XXX] and get a written response have also failed. Each time I have been told that it is within specification and fixing it is not under warranty. I also have been told that it can be fixed now if I pay for it. The cost was estimated at $3,000. When it jerks jerks and shutters, it startles me and distracts me from attention on controlling the car. This condition is not safe. I am now mainly using my husband's Tesla. The contact owns a 2017 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate after stopping for a while at a stoplight or in traffic. Additionally, the engine overheated on occasion. The contact turned off the vehicle and waited for the engine to cool down before restarting the vehicle in order for the vehicle to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed that the transmission fluid was burnt and had metal shavings in the fluid. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The approximate failure mileage was 120,095.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle shuddered and hesitated while accelerating. The contact stated that after refueling, the vehicle stalled. The contact would attempt to restart the vehicle 15-20 times and then allowed the vehicle to rev for 2-3 minutes before the vehicle resumed normal operation. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the fuel tank had excessive vacuum pressure. The fuel tank need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure recurred. The contact mentioned NHTSA campaign number: 18V845000 (power train) and 18V735000 (fuel system, gasoline) as possible solutions to the failure however, the VIN was not included. Joe cotton Ford, Inc. (5 w. North ave, carol stream, il 60188, (630) 682-9200) was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 52,800.

My Ford Focus hatchback is a automatic and can shift into super auto/manual are available. My vehicle staggers, shutters, and shakes once in drive mode. My vehicle also rolls backwards when on a incline if I do not press the break pedal, and if I do not accelerate at all or touch the breaks it will lose momentum and begin to roll backwards if the front of the vehical is inclined. This issue is not solely the manual models my 2017 Ford Focus fwd automatic shutters while accelerating from a complete stop. I checked transmission fluid all levels were good there. My electronic 'anticipation' score in my cars eco faqs dashboard is 5/5. 5/5 is the best your score can be. This is a serious issue for not just 2014-2016 but 2017 automatics and manuals both! if you can't accelerate your vehicle without transmission staggering, shuttering, shaking and related issues with driving new to preowned 60K-100K and under vehicles this is very concerning. My vehicle is under 52K miles I got it around 49K. It was brand new one owner before me and the car facs report was detailed on its service history and very well maintained. If my vehic is automatic with eco and technology as well as up to date sync updates thent electronically my vehicle is computing incorrectly and this flex fuel is causing some computer issue with my transmission. If my up to date vehicle technology is causing issues then I can't trust my vehicle to know how to keep me safe. If I need to accelerate but have to press the breaks or let off the gas until the shuttering/staggering/shaking completely goes away then how am I supposed to accelerate to avoid something, to merge and get up to oncoming traffic speed? my anticipation is 5 out of 5 for my acceleration ratings to be the best possible. My vehicle is unsafe for avoiding safety hazards and driving from a complete stop into 1st, and 2nd gear. The steering is great.

2017 Ford Focus S, shudders/shakes when accelerating from a full stop. The car acts as if the transmission is slipping. The car is parked and I refuse to move it until this issue is addressed. Ford needs to fix this issue or issue everyone who owns this vehicle a full refund or a different model! this is not safe and can cause serious injuries to anyone driving it, especially on a highway or beltway at a great amount of speed and the car refuses to accelerate without shuddering or shaking.

The transmission shudders when accelerating from fully stopped, such as when departing from a stop light or stop sign. It also shudders when accelerating from low speed, such as coming out of a parking lot and accelerating after slowly turning onto a street. The entire car shakes as it tries to pick up speed. This happens whether the engine is cold or warm. I have read dozens upon dozens of identical accounts from other 2017 Ford Focus owners. Something is inherently wrong with the powertrain system throughout the fleet and the manufacturer should fix the problem.

I purchased my Ford Focus May 2017 as a brand new vehicle with only 12 miles on it. In two years, I began to feel a shudder whenever I started to drive from a stop. The shudder was on and off for a month and increasingly got worse. I took my vehicle into Ford, July 2019. They stated that my clutch went bad and I needed to have it repaired. It was covered under warranty. Since this is a brand new vehicle I was surprised it was already having such a major issue. The service department staff notified me that this problem is common with Ford Focus's. a year in a half later, I began to have the same issues and symptoms again. I called Ford to notify them in December 2020, he stated it may be the same problem but they have to take a look at it. I made an appointment and got my vehicle repaired for the same clutch issue that was replaced originally. This was covered under warranty. I was informed that once my warranty expired they will no longer cover the cost for my repairs on the clutch if it went bad again. This would result in me paying $2,300 each time it needed a repair. Given the two clutch replacements within 3.5 years of having this brand new car, I was upset since this seemed to be an issue that shouldn't be occurring. I looked up recalls on 2017 Ford Focus's and found the recall number 18V845000 & 18V169000 (18S07). These two recalls specifically mention the type of issue I've had twice with this new vehicle within 1.5 years of each other. Its states the snowball effect of damage to the vehicle with the clutch fracturs. I called 800 number to Ford regarding this matter and they are unable to assist me until this problem happens three times. I am appalled since a new vehicle shouldn't have to have the same problem three times for assistance. This is a serious life-threatening manufactures defect, I should not have to keep paying, even after warranty.

I purchased this car new and within a week it began shuddering, studdering, jerking during acceleration. For a while I thought it was just me getting used to the car and pressing the gas pedal oddly. Over the years the problem has became worse and approximately 12-15 months ago I took it in to be checked out. I had to contact the dealership and complain about the way my car was driving numerous times before they allowed me to bring it in. I cannot remember if there was a recall on the transmission or if the "repair" was covered under warranty. Either way, the dealership tried everything they could to avoid me- so much that I passed the maximum miles covered in the manufacturer warranty before I was allowed to bring it in but they did still honor it, considering my complaint was well before the threshold was surpassed. When I picked my car up I was told a new electronic component was installed in(?) the transmission that would record and adapt to my driving style, allowing a much smoother transition between gear shifts, solving the shuddering. Whatever they did worked for about a week, just long enough to ensure the manufacturer warranty expired. Now it is worse than ever- sever shuddering and jerking between gears, taking longer than it should to shift gears, even slipping gears sometimes, occasional uninitiated engine revving and bogging down, hesitating to accelerate- both at a stop and while in motion, rolling backwards on an incline while in drive. I'm afraid to pull out onto a road if there's any traffic coming, afraid to cross at a median, merge into traffic from an off ramp. I've known from the beginning that something isn't right with this car, and reading through the class-action lawsuit against Ford for this same model car years 2012-2016, I believe Ford knows, too.

2017 Ford Focus shudders when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear when hot. When cold, no issues. After a long road trip on the highway, we stopped for a quick break and started the car up again. This time, I noticed a very harsh shudder and shake as I accelerated from a stop. No indicators on the dash, normal pressure and temp levels, oil level perfect.

My 2017 Ford Focus for a while now has had many transmission problems including stuttering, shuddering, and even rolling backwards while on a hill in drive. I have had my Ford Focus for almost 2 years now and have updated it on all of its recalls. But, not to long after I got it, the transmission started showing problems as the ones I listed earlier. It began first with the stuttering and then physically became noticeable when I rolled back on a hill. I know there have been recalls and a lawsuits against Ford for the previous models, primarily between 2012-2016. But, I think the 2017 has the same issues but no recalls on it yet. I'm hoping that by filing a report, something will come off it because it is a substantial problem. Dealerships are reaping even more because as soon as I had my problems, I immediately went back to my dealership to tell to them and they told me that it was a matter of getting used to. Something about the car adjusting to my foot pressure but it's only been getting worse. After much usage is when it's very noticeable but there is something definitely wrong. I've been in instances where I'm trying to turn on city streets but because the car stutters, it makes me slow down or pause; hence, placing me in positions of accidents or something worse. I just hope something can be done.
