Freestar Limited 4.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 120,000 miles

Ford did torque converter recall, had clunk sounds 2 one after the other mostly while backing up. Was advised could be brake hanging up, knew they were wrong as I had replaced the brakes a few months earlier. After two weeks then the trac. controll light came on! Before taking it in I was due for an oil change, something I do myself, and I look at CV Boots for damage. They had damaged left outer boot lower ball joint boot, which can't be replaced have to buy whole lower control arm, also found out from them that sensor for trac controll left side was bad. Wouldn't replace control arm or hub assembly as you have to buy a new one because sensor can't be replaced alone. I had replaced all these items around 65,000 miles as something was hit and bent my brake line into the CV Boot. After the Second time in without a loaner all the original parts on passanger side are fine. That's because they didn't need to touch that side to pull transmission to get at torque converter!

I have went to college for auto Mechanic's to boil it all down take pictures of drivers side cv boot and lower ball

joint before taking in for recall!! Recall doesn't include New Transmission filter do yourself a favor take it some place to get it changed! FORD I AM DONE WITH YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! company is so tight they can't even put in a tranny filter that anyone else would do, It's less than $20 for them to replace part wise, but they don't want to find those metal shavings stuck in filter from the torque converter that could leed to class action for New Tranny!
