Vehicle began to drive very roughly, loss of engine power at times, would cut out, idling was rough, and odd metal clanging type of noise heard. First auto mechanic (smaller engine/tire type of shop) attempted to fix the issue, but ended up sending me on to Ford because this shop didn't have the correct tools to fix the issue which was the PCM. What had leaked into the area causing computer issues. This shop sent me on to Ford, but not without charging me $300 for their diagnosis. Ford confirmed what the small shop stated which was that it was a fried "motherboard," and required a new PCM, flashing of the computer chip, and so on.

After this was fixed, it ran somewhat better (~$750 later), but still had idling issues and cut out and the engine light was on again within three days of fixing this. I took it back to Ford advising the check engine light was back on. Ford said it was a cam shaft sensor. So, a month or two later, I dropped another $300 roughly for a new cam shaft sensor.

The engine light came back on within the week, and I telephoned Ford again complaining the light's back on, the idling still isn't stable, and requested input on what's going on, why they can't fix this issue. Ford advised it could be the cam shaft sensor synchronizer, something along this line. They also advised it would cost around $350. I told them forget it, I'll drive it like it is.

In 2013, there was a recall on the torque converter. I completed the recall at the same Ford dealership (Sioux Falls Ford). When I drove my van home that night, the first thing I noticed was a louder than normal engine and idling seemed higher than it should be, like I was driving a large engine pick-up now. They messed my steering column up, so I requested they fix this issue but the idling issues and louder than normal engine continues.

While my husband was on his way home from work he came upon a red light. When the light turned green again he attempted to accelerate but the van would not move. He turned the ignition off and then on again and the van still would not move. All of this occurred without any warning, no lights flashing or any kind of unusual sounds. After having it towed to the dealer we purchased the vehicle from we were told that the van had an electrical problem that needed to be handled at the Ford dealer. Now what I have been told is that the Electronic Computer Module was the problem and needed to be replaced. This repair cost us $1200 dollars after having the van for just under five months. We are paying close to $13,000 for this van and were not able to drive it safely for at least six months without repair. Someone should protect the consumer a little better than they are. This is devastating for my family considering this is our first vehicle and we are still inexperienced with the was dealers prey on their potential customers, Ford should be ashamed of how they treat the people who are the one's who keep them in business. I think people should take a stand to refrain from purchasing Ford vehicles until they take consumer safety seriously. There should also be a law which states that any used car dealer disclose recall information to the potential buyer before a contract is entered into. The type of problem that we have could have ended in serious injury or death had this happened on the highway. Now since I am discussing this issue with friends and relatives they all have the same thing to say FORD stands for Found On-side of Road Dead. I wish I knew this before my purchase. There are so many people out here who have been swindled by this company and its incompetence.
