Although I've listed this problem as having occurred today, it has been an ongoing problem for at least 1.5 years with 4 different mechanics suggesting it was either the transmission, idling setting, dirty air filter, spark plugs, ignition coil, alternator, battery (3), catalytic converter, some kind of arcing under the hood, or (at this point I cannot remember the long list of things that were said was wrong with it). The above that are listed were all repaired except for the catalytic converter, and that was because the next two mechanics checked it and were convinced there was nothing wrong with it. Today after diagnostics were run I got a code we've never gotten before: P2004 - Intake Manifold Runner Control stuck open - bank 1. There were more codes but paper isn't here at this moment for me to type here.

Basically what happens is that the Check Engine come on (sometimes it doesn't), there is a significant decrease in power & acceleration, vehicle idles low - sputters and nearly dies - whether just sitting at a light or driving. That is pretty scary. Then, there were the times when it did actually die - on the side of a highway 30 miles from home. That time led to costly tow and alternator replaced and another battery. So, I'm still trying to find out why the vehicle is performing badly, praying all this time hasn't harmed vehicle badly, and hoping it doesn't cost too much.

We have spent about $2,000.00 on this van in 2015. We have had a new fuel filter, new fuel pump, had the PCM cleaned and dried out, and of course the recall on the transmission (that was back in 2011 or 2012). Every time it will run good for a day or two and then the noise starts and soon it starts hesitating and sometimes dies. The dying is getting worse, we are afraid to drive it very far for fear it won't restart. We have also noticed that the left turn signal will blink fast like when a light bulb goes out but when you drive it the next time it works just fine.

I love this car and don't want and can't afford to buy another vehicle. It was my Dad's and it never gave him any problems except for a tire pressure light that wouldn't go out (that has stopped). Anybody got an answer for this? I have had it to the Ford Dealership and to my mechanic. I really don't want to take it back to the dealership because I suspect they put a new fuel pump in that really didn't need to be replaced. ($800.00) Oh, and there are no diagnostic lights coming on when this happens.

This car ran fine until now. The brakes were changed at about 50000 miles and they clattered every since. this problem i now, when i rev the engine up to 2000 rmp it shuts off and i have to restart, has got me worried that it will be more expensive to fix than the car is worth.
