It's really bad when you have a problem that is very common in a car and the Company doesn't take responsibility for their product. I have seen and looked online and I see a lot of owners with the same problem as mine!

In early October of 2014, while driving my 2005 Ford Freestyle, the traction light along with a message of AWD Malfunction was displayed. I took my car to the Ford Dealer and was told the rear differential needs to be replaced, cost over $600. I did just have the L suspension replaced too so I wasn't looking forward to another steep bill.

I decided to check with my local mechanic for a second opinion. He indicated the fluid for the rear differential was low and that could cause the light to come on. He replaced the fluid and it was off for a few days and then the warning lights returned. I took it back and he did additional research and discover Ford had noted a similar issue and claims it is something to do with the rear differential sensor. I returned to the garage and had the sensor replaced. I picked it up yesterday got half way home and the warning lights are back on.

This is my only vehicle. I have 3 small children and I have been messing with this issue for over 3 months. I have a family weekend planned and the drive is over 3 hours, is my vehicle safe??? If Ford knows of an issue why do they not do something?
