2005 Ford Freestyle sel. 76,000 miles. Right rear lower control arm sheered off from frame at mounting point while traveling at ~20 mph on residential street. The failure point was the sheet metal on the frame where the control arm attaches to, not the actual control arm.

2005 Ford Freestyle...lower right rear suspension control arm failed at frame attachment bracket...near loss of control at low speed...had failure happened at highway speed the result could have been very serious.

Rear end noise started about 13000 miles ( sounding like a plane engine when you hit 40 mph). Dealer said tires were worn replaced all four tires plus alignment-dealer paid for two. Noise continued. Dealer then replace ball joints and rear brakes at 14000. Noise is gone.
