When I am driving my car with the air conditioner running, the transmission will surge when the car is at a stop, causing the car to lunge forward. Last summer I brought the car to the dealer to have them look into it and they said it is just due to the cvt transmission and the way it is tuned. They told me it was just characteristic of this type of engine. There was nothing that needed to be fixed. This happens every time the air is running. Most recently, my car lunged into another car in line at a red light causing rear end damage.

While stopped and in gear at a light or while parking the engine revs and the vehicle surges forward (or backward if in reverse). This has happened several times in the past week almost causing damage to vehicles near-by. After the "surge" a yellow wrench light on the dash comes on. When the vehicle is restarted the warning light goes off and the vehicle operates normally.

Two separate occasions car has suddenly revved the engine. Once while attempting to back up, had to slam break to keep from smashing into row behind us. Once while setting at red light. Engine suddenly revved to 6K RPM, then dropped then surged again.
