Cpsc#I11C0348A. 2006 Ford Freestyle. Consumer stated that the car had a flat tire. Also stated on the way going home the check break light came on and the speedometer stopped working. Also the car made a gringind noise and shut down.

Rear brakes wear out unusually fast, in the first 18,000 miles. Sound Ford will not do anything about this issue either. This is the 2nd time I have had to replace my rear brakes and rotors that were completely ruined in 38,000 miles of usual driving. I have also experienced unusual tire wear. The insides of the tires go bald with in the first 35,000 miles even with routine servicing and rotations.

Excessive brake dust. Was informed that rear brakes were down to metal. Rotors were so worn they could not be turned.replaced rear brakes and rotors.took car in for routine check and mentioned that the rear bar that the 3rd row of seats holds onto was rusting. Asked if they could check for leaks and if other people were complaining. They found no leaks and said I must have gotten the car excessively wet on the inside (no!). I also complained about a sour moldy smell coming from the air conditioner...again no solution.had to replace tires becuase they wor out 'prematurely'. was told it was my driving. Dealership would not do anything under warranty or offer help. Tires had abnormal wear on the inside(toeing?) then I was getting very poor gas mileage and needed a routine check and oil change again. I took it in and was informed I had no rear brakes left. The rear calipers were failing to release. Once again brake assembly was replaced. Took car in for and engine noise/whine 3 different times and had a tech ride with me. Each time they heard nothing and did nothing. Took car in for a loud noise coming from rear wheel along with a burning smell. Tech rode with me and did not hear any noise from tire but did comment about the engine noise/whine. I was finally relieved that he heard it and I told him no other tech has seemed to hear it. Car was looked at and found that rear driver tire bearings were shot and wheel was loose(very dangerous they said) they had to order parts. When I asked what they found out about the engine whine that the tech also heard, I was told there was no mention of it but they would look into it before I came to pick up my car. Next I got a phone call saying the shop foreman didn't hear the noise, so there was nothing they could do.now for the last two days my car has started really rough and then died. Yesterday it surged forward and the wrench light turned on. I took it in and now they say the code says there is a transmission failure!? 45,000.

The brakes and rotors of this vehicle are pre-maturely wearing having to be replaced at 19K by the dealer. I now have 31K and the replaced set is already 60% used. This concerns me greatly as the really makes the car unsafe. Tires on this vehicle are also wearing faster then normal. Will need replacement soon.

In 2006 we purchased a new Ford Freestyle. At three months I took it to have the oil checked and I was told my tires were bald, Ford gave us new tires. Since then I am getting ready to put my forth set of tires on the car. I have talked to several people who have the same car and they all have had the same problem. We took it to a Ford dealer and they told us there was no way to align it, we then took it to our personal mechanic and he checked it and said there was no way to align it then the other day I took it to a tire place and they said they do not even sell a kit to align it. What can I do ?

I have three complaints regarding my vehicle. I purchased a 2006 Freestyle in June of 2006. In October 2006 my son and I were involved in an accident. There was extensive front end damage resulting in over $10,000 in repairs. The car jumped over two ravines, both times severely impacting the ground. Almost the entire front part of the car had to be replaced, including the radiators, grill, bumper, etc. The air bags did not deploy. Also, I have had to have the tires replaced two times making the latest the third set of tires on this vehicle. The set of tires I just had replaced were 60,000 mile Continental touring tires. They had uneven, choppy, wear and were approximately 8 months old. I am on the second set of brakes, both front and rear and have had the rear rotors replaced.. the vehicle currently has approximately 39,000 miles on it. The premature, uneven tire wear and the brake wear are excessive compared to any other vehicle I have ever owned. I feel very fortunate that the accident we were involved did not result in bodily injury for either me or my 22 year old son.

Since we first purchased the car, we have been complaining that our tires have been wearing out too quickly, show unusual signs of wear. After the third visit to the dealers, I contacted Ford to express my frustration regarding the tires and that fact that I had to continually replace these tires at my cost ? it was unusual that tires were wearing out with less than 20,000 miles on the vehicle. Ford Motor Company denied any responsibility for the tire, suggesting that the unusual wear was a factor that was being caused roads within New Hampshire and improper maintenance and our failure to keep our tire aligned and balanced. On August 26th, 2007 - my car began to experience some a wobbling in the car as if the car was out of alignment - with a five minute period, it started to feel like we had a flat tire. I pulled to the side of the road and inspected the tires on the vehicle, which did not appear to be flat. Again I proceeded down the road and within the next 500 my car began to experience some a sever wobbling, violently shaking the car. Again, I got out of the car to inspect the tires assuming that this was being caused being caused by a flat tire. Again, all of the tires appeared to be fine, who ever I did notice that left rear passenger tire appeared to wobble when I pushed on it with my foot. Assuming that the tire might be lose, I proceed to jack up the vehicle in an effort to determine if the tire was potentially loose what I discover, was that the tire was fine, instead, the entire left assemble (tire, disk brake assembly and the rotor) were coming off the car?

I own a 2006 Ford Freestyle. I have Continental conti-touring CT95 original equipment tires on my car. These tires have no lasted nearly as long as expected (they're rated at 60,000 mile tires). At 14,000 miles I had 5/32nds of tread wear left. At 26,000 miles I had to replace the tires as they were completely bald (less than 2/32nds of wear left) and the tread wear warning bars were showing. Ford refuses to acknowledge the problem and states the tires last until they last.

I have two complaints. I have a 2006 Ford Freestyle. First complaint I purchased my Freestyle in late December 2005 and not even six months later in early June 2006 (only 8,056 miles) about 800 miles from home, my rear right tire blew out. Tire was replaced. When I returned home I went to the dealer and I was told the warranty does not cover the tire. Then again in November 2006 there was a bubble in my left rear tire. Tire was replaced. Was told not under warranty. Second complaint at 18,770 miles I had to replace rear brakes that were worn to metal. The R-R rotor was damaged so the rear pad/shoes, one rotor, and brakes were replaced. One rotor was resurfaced. This seemed like a lot of serious work for an automobile that wasn't even two years old. I was a previous owner of a Ford Explorer and we didn't have this kind of problem that early.
