I had an accident in a rented 2007 Ford escape in which the airbag deployed. It exhausted hot gasses near my wrists, sufficient to melt the fleece I was wearing and give me second degree burns on both arms. Either the airbag malfunctioned in doing so, or there is a design flaw in venting the gases near the position where the driver's hands and arms are most likely to be.
