This problem with my 2006 Ford Fusion Sel is that when im driving and i come to a stop my car will start running rough, and it will cut off which almost got me rear ended, and if i try an drive off it will move very slowly. so what i would have to do is cut the engine off and restart the car which pisses me off, so when my car restarts it picks the speed up again, but the check engine lights stays on. sometimes it will go off in a day or so. i change my oil on a regular and i ve replaced my spark plugs. i ve tried different gas stations but the problem keeps coming back and my warranty has just ran out.

after mechanic replaced the two coils the motor ran misfiring. He checked with other mechanics and discovered ford sent out a tech bulletin in november 2011 the computer plus all six ignition coils must be replaced approximate cost- 2000.00 dollars. there are reports that 3.0L V6 up through 2008 are very common I made the mistake of buying an american made car I always looked at KIA and Hundai as disposable cars that wouldn't last 100.000 miles ,but now I see FORD HAS BEAT THEM AS THAT TITLE HOLDER

Have a 2006 Fusion SEL 3.0 which has been babied from day 1. Bought as an ex- lease and history of the car was given to me by the selling dealer. Appears the original lessee babied it too. Had roughly 35000 km when bought....when it got to 100000 km engine light had come on repeatedly changed plugs, coils, the usual culprits...engine light would stay out for a week and then come on again....this happened numerous times..eventually took it to a Ford Dealer (against my better judgement, but at this point desperate) , they also pulled the plugs and called me to tell me I had a hole in # 5 piston. could not believe it, went to the dealership and saw with a camera down the plug hole. sure enough gaping hole in the piston....no rhyme or reason. still have the car, into it for too much money now, will have to drive it until it is well and truly dead. This used motor (to the tune of 4000.00 ) seems to be OK, have just hit 175000 km....the think that amazes me is the mechanic didn't even replace the plugs in this used motor while it was on the floor ....DUH.....wanted to charge me again to replace them. Glad they went belly up.
will I buy another Ford, (any model????) Not after hearing yesterday my wife's girlfriend's exact same Fusion now needs a new motor at less than 100,000 km.. just waiting to hear why....her's is getting a junkyard transplant too....icing on the cake.
maybe the Fusion is the new Exploder!!! wanted to support North American made (even though it is assembled in Mexico) and didn't want to support manufacturers that borrowed gov't money and the reported profits....something wrong there.
Guess I am going to German engineering on the next one.....but not a VW Diesel LOL
