I phoned Ford and complained about it and they said if they get more complaints they might cover the bill. Nothing from them yet and it is weird that it was the last door handle they had in stock and you would think that would be a hint.

Incredibly cheap design; very little plastic holding this together

Door handle and lock on driver's side suddenly stopped working properly. Door would not latch and close properly. Had to order a new handle and tear out the door paneling and replace it completely. Can't imagine how expensive this would've been at an official Ford dealership. This was an obnoxious problem because the door wouldn't even close without fidgeting for hours and a flathead screwdriver. Would have caused MAJOR problems if it had happened away from home but just so happened to occur right when we got home. We were REALLY lucky for that fact.

door handles broken

This is a very serious issue. The door handles actually comes away from the actual door, causing the door not to lock allowing breaking to the vehicle. Along with not being able to exit the vehicle in a case of emergency.

Went to open door and handle broke and stung my finger and almost caused me to punch myself in the head. This lead to me punching the window instead. Not to worry, I won't be adding "weak windshield" to my list of complaints on this POS car! You can open the car by pulling on the unlock latch @ the same time as the broken handle.

Replacement of course is around $100.

I purchased my 2007 Ford Fusion in May 2007 at Chatsworth Ford in Chatsworth, GA, also my daughter purchased a car on the same day. It was also a 2007 Ford Fusion. Her door handle broke first, then a couple of months later my driver side door handle broke.

It is very annoying. To get out of the car you have to roll the window down and open the door from the outside, then roll the window back up. This really makes me mad. When it is raining I get soaked. If there was to be an accident I would be trapped. I think I am going to have to start carrying one of those window breakers just in case it is really terrible.

Both of our cars were made in Mexico, I did not realize this until I had finished purchasing the car or I would have considered another type of vehicle. At the cost of cars now Ford should provide a longer warranty. This is definitely a safety issue and should be recalled. I should not have to pay for the repair. I am no longer feeling safe driving my car.

Interior driver's side door handle broke. I have to open the door by rolling the window down. My windows are electric and if there is an accident or the electric window will not work, I will be trapped in the car. This presents a significant safety issue. Also, the driver's side door does not lock when I get out of the car and will present a problem with possible theft of items inside the car and the car itself and my safety. Please consider a recall as I've seen many complaints on this same issue.

what I thought was a metal handle turned out to be cheap plastic. you cannot open the back door from the inside - someone has to open it from the outside. the handle is just hanging there and moves freely...

Just went to open my door last night, heard a little pop. Now the interior door handle is just free moving, no resistance, and the door won't open.

This is a huge safety issue and Ford needs to issue a recall for this.

I called ford parts about the broken drivers inside door handle. I was quoted $86.00 for the part $90.00 per hour to diagnose the problem and then whatever the cost of the install. This is clearly a safety issue and should be under a recall. The crooks at ford in their quest to penny pinch are selling nothing but sh*t.

The door handle broke making it impossible to lock the door. The dealer said the part was on back order, but would not be covered under warranty because the mileage exceeded the warranty period. When a care is manufactured the U.S. government requires that 10 years of replacement parts be manufactured. In 3 years10 years of parts have been used. This seems like a manufacturer defect to me. There should be a recall. I should not have to pay for this repair.
