While drive 45 mph the car slowed down to 5 mph and would not go any faster. This happened once and the powertrain light came on. It reset itself then a week later it happened twice while trying to drive home. Throttle body replacement needed.

I was driving on a highway going about 40 and the car stalled and lost all power with no response to pressing the pedal. It was idling very rough and the wrench light and check engine light came on. I shut the car off and restarted and it seemed fine until I got on the interstate. While driving on the interstate it stalled around 15 times in 20 miles. It stalled going 75 mph a few times and also stalled countless times in traffic when I was stopped and tried to accelerate. This was very scary and is an extremely dangerous issue. On the way home I experienced the same problem and rode with my hazards on in fear of being rear-ended.

2010 Ford Fusion, maintenance light comes on and all gas/throttle is cut to rough idle with no response. This incident has almost caused accidents to stalling while trying to cross roads. You have to remove the key and restart 1-4 times before the light goes away and you can use the throttle, all while it may shut off again after you get moved just a little way.

While traveling to work vehicle lost all power. Nearly rear ended as there was no place to pull of as car coasted to a stop. Looked online to see if this is a problem with this car as I purchased it 4 months ago. Numerous complaints and close calls reported. The throttle bodies are on backorder as there are so many failures being reported. This a serious problem and will lead to accidents.

From a stopped position in my condo parking lot, I began to enter street and my car began to jerk/lunge. I noticed the yellow gold wrench warning light came on. Engine stopped. I was able to restart and chugged/eased into a plaza parking lot. Called Ford dealership and was advised to call for a tow to their service department. There was no prior incident leading up to this event. It just happened. I feel lucky to have been entering a side street vice being stopped and trying to move through a congested intersection. The throttle body was replaced.

I was driving approximately 70 mph in the left lane on I-40 when I heard a noise and then realized that I had absolutely no throttle response. I also noticed that the orange wrench light illuminated on the dashboard. This was especially frightening and dangerous given the fact that I was driving during a time of high-volume traffic, and there were cars behind me also going 70 mph. Thankfully, I was able to pull over to the shoulder without endangering myself or other drivers. Upon reaching the shoulder, I realized that the car was bucking and surging, and I turned off the engine. A few minutes later, I attempted to restart the car and continue driving, but upon accelerating towards highway speeds, the same problem occurred, and I moved back onto the shoulder. I had my vehicle towed to the dealership, and after inspecting the vehicle my service representative informed me that the throttle body needed to be replaced. They also informed me that there have been so many issues with this particular part, that it is on back order with Ford on a national scale. Quite frankly, I'm appalled that Ford has yet to issue a recall on this part, and I'm afraid it will only occur after someone is seriously injured as a result of their defective throttle body. I find this extremely disheartening, and I would like an explanation from Ford as to why they have not issued a recall.

Traveling on a local interstate at 70mph in traffic, the car suddenly lost power, the engine went to idle and would not accelerate or maintain speed. The engine was still running. As I was rapidly losing speed, I had to get to the right should to pull the car safely out of traffic. The exact same loss of engine power occurred less than 24 hours earlier while waiting to turn in the middle of an intersection. These are the first 2 incidents, but occurred very close together.

I was on the highway going about 60mph when my car(2010 Ford Fusion) would not accelerate at all and immediately cut-off.,I happen to be in the slow lane of the highway I tried starting it backup and it did enough to coax it to the shoulder, but when I tried to give it some gas it cut off and would not start. I had it towed and discovered the throttle body unit went out and needed replacing. All of this happen with no warning no noise, no lights coming on, nothing, the car just cut off. It was very scary being on the highway and your car turning off with no warning, and unexpected out of pocket expense because my car was out of warranty (39,571 miles). To discover this is a problem for many Ford owners an Ford won't do a recall is very frustrating, and I'm still afraid to drive on the highway in my car even though it has been repaired, a terrifying event in my life.

I was trying to enter I-77 from the entrance ramp when the vehicle lost power and a wrench appeared on my dash lights. I pulled to the side of the ramp and turned the engine off. In a few minutes I restarted the engine and it ran fine. I did some research and discovered that Ford has a severe problem with the throttle bodies on this engine (I-4). This is a dangerous situation, if I had been on the busy interstate I would probably have been run over. I contacted the local Ford dealer and they said that the throttle body was probably the problem and it wasn't covered under warranty. They quoted me a price between $500 and $700 to replace it. I purchased the part myself for under $200 and replaced it myself in about 15 minutes. Ford needs to correct this problem before someone gets killed.

My daughter was driving home from work in traffic in the used vehicle we bought her 3 days ago. The vehicle began to sputter then lost power, yellow wrench light came on, pressing gas pedal did nothing she was almost rear ended. Pulled over to side of road turned off car and turned it back on wrench light was gone car started up. Drove a few more miles same thing happened she had to pull over again turn it off and restart. I looked up the problem online and found many, many posts on this issue. It is a throttle body issue. Ford needs to do a recall!

While leaving work, the rpms dropped drastically and the car began to lose acceleration quickly and slowed down to 0. I turned the car off and restarted it, thinking that it really was time for a tune-up. It ran fine for about 15 miles while on the expressway. Shortly afterwards, while still driving home from work, the same issue happened. I was on a very busy road under heavy construction. The car lost acceleration, slowed down to 0 and began running very rough. There was no shoulder to use due to the construction and the barricades on both side of the road. The car came to a complete stop in the road with rush hour traffic beeping their horns behind me. Had to shut the car off and restart it, painfully chugging my way past the construction zone to where I could finally pull off on the shoulder of the road. Turned out to be the "throttle body". I had to replace it which was not cheap. I love my car, we are pro Ford; but while researching this problem, and after seeing all the other people on blogs that have had the exact same problem as my car, I was shocked that there is still not a recall on this part and felt I had to file a complaint. It is clearly a defective part that is putting people in danger. To lose acceleration on a large city's 8 lane expressway in rush hour while people are driving 80 mph + is extremely dangerous. Really glad I made it to the highway before the throttle body totally quit working and that I did not have the grandchildren with me at the time!

It first started on the highway doing 75mph. My car jerked and wouldn't accelerate and the wrench light came on. I pulled over and shut off my car, turned it back on and it worked fine for about a month. Now it happens much more frequently, it goes about 100 feet before repeating but now my check engine light is on, the wrench light comes on, and my cars shakes when I stop and pull over. I got the code checked and it says it's the throttle body plate getting stuck, I have tried cleaning it already with throttle body cleaner and it hasn't helped at all. I have seen many posts about this happening. Not safe to drive when my car shuts down in the middle of a highway or road.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle would not accelerate. The check engine light and the wrench warning icon illuminated. The vehicle began to lunge forward and shutter before proceeding to stall. The contact was able to restart the vehicle but the failure continued to recur intermittently. The contact discovered that the throttle body was defective and replaced throttle body himself. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 88,000.

Incident # 1 - I was pulling away from a stop sign and noticed that my car had no power and it was just chugging so to speak, I pressed the gas petal to the floor and had no power. There was a side street close I chugged into this street. I waited a few minutes and it started as normal. Incident #2 - three (3) day after above incident #1, I was pulling out of a restaurant parking lot onto a busy highway and my car totally lost power, there was another exit to the restaurant I chugged into that exit. I waited a few minutes and it started as normal. Incident #3 - one (1) day after above incident #2, I was on an interstate highway, driving 55 mph and I heard the car power down and I had no power at all. I was in a lane without a shoulder, just a concrete divider. I chugged over to the small area between the highway and the concrete divider. I coasted on this area until I came to the end of the divider and I turned the key off and called my husband, we were once again able to start it and it was taken to a garage and left for evaluation. They checked out the problem and found this was a known issue of the throttle body with the Ford Fusion and advised us to call the dealer (edie gilstrap motors, salem, in). Our 3 year 36,000 mile warranty had just expired in August and the dealer would not honor it, even though they said it was a known safety issue of the "throttle body". updated 12/31/2013

I feel like my money on this car as been stolen.. sorry Ford this is my last car from you..
