My purchased my car with 25 miles on it in 2010 and the first time was in 2013 Jan, with about 35000 miles on it when I was in heavy baton rouge traffic pulling onto the street and my car lost power and would not accelerate. The wrench light appeared, I managed to pull back off the road and turned the car off. After looking in my manual I saw that it could possible be a throttle problem. I started the car back up and it drove normally. I had Ford dealership inspect the vehicle which they said it didn't appear to have any problem. However I am registering a complaint because I thought I was purchasing a reliable vehicle. Losing power is a very serious problem and could cause accidents. Ford please recall. Why should the customer be responsible for a defective part, why is Ford not standing behind it quality vehicles?

Driving home from work going about 60 mph and the wrench light came on unexpectedly and my car stopped taking any gas. The throttle stopped working completely and I just barely made it to the shoulder before my car stopped completely on a busy highway. Was towed to the dealership where no one was there to look at it because it was about 6pm. Went back the next day and was told it's the throttle body and it would be ordered on Monday. I received a call Monday morning stating the piece would be in the next evening and to drop my car off Wednesday. I take my car back on Wednesday morning and have someone at my work pick me up. They failed to tell me this before leaving but the piece is on back order and they have no idea when it will come in to be fixed... after I was already at work! what poor customer service! now I have to drive a car that could fail and stop accelerating at any moment because Ford doesn't know how to take care of their customers properly. This part should be recalled if this many people are having issues that the part is on back order and you have people driving with vehicles that could just stop working at any time and any speed. It's completely unprofessional.

Driving approximately 35 mph while changing lanes and car lost power; wrench indicator did appear. Third instance of this happening - first two incidents occurred in first year of owning vehicle; wrench indicator did not appear in these occurrences. Vehicle currently being serviced for this problem as well as recurring lag in acceleration. This vehicle has also been serviced in the past for the aforementioned issues as well as: Jerk and clunk when reversing, unexpected rev in rpms, and slipping when gears change. This is a Fusion with the 6F35 automatic transmission. As usual, dealer has said if the code doesn't register or if they can't recreate the issue when out for a test drive then they will have to note it as no problem found.

I was driving down the road at 45 mph and the engine stalled. It was very dangerous but I did not get into an accident. I waited a few minutes and started the car back up and it worked fine for about two miles and did the same thing again. I found out through Ford that it was the throttle body and even the dealership admitted it was becoming a big problem. The part is back ordered for a month and it was not covered under warranty. Ford should admit the problem and recall the part before someone gets really hurt.

Vehicle had no throttle response, and had to coast to a stop. Incident happened many times prior to the date shown, but did not have specific date and mileage. In conducting web research, the problem is endemic with many Ford production years and models, and Ford has thus far refused to issue a recall, or to provide any out-of-warranty relief. According to my research, the part involved is a "throttle body, " and there have been at least 9,000 complaints about this issue. This is an extremely dangerous situation since the car randomly stops, and the only known remedy is to stop the car, wait a time, and then restart it. To the best I can find out, the throttle body is part of the power train, which is why that description was chosen'.

This has been a recurring problem for some time and on June 2nd it happened to me 9 times during a 20 mile trip. While traveling down the road, doesn't matter what speed/accelerating/decelerating, the wrench light will come on and I will lose all throttle control. I have to pull to the side of the road and when I do the vehicle shakes viciously. Turn the car off, then back on and it starts with a sluggish start. The vehicle will run for a little bit then repeat this cycle. The throttle body is the problem and it is on national backorder! this needs to be a recall immediately because I can easily see someone making a left turn loose the throttle and get hit by on oncoming vehicle.

Driving 45 miles per hour, when car just started shaking then stopped, glided over to breakdown lane. Car started again after a minute or so went on our way. Next day car stopped again, twice. Took it into Ford dealership. They said it was the throttle body and is on back order but we can clean it, they did and charged $250 for service. Well it is happening again and again. We bought this car brand new in 2010 for our retirement car, it has only 38000 miles. We are afraid to take long trips, so we are stuck to home with only grocery store and other runs. What a retirement!!!!!!!!! we traded in a 2003 Crown Victoria, Ford of course. My first car was a 1962, galaxie 500 and have had Ford ever since, can send you pictures of all our Ford. Never had a Ford with a problem, ever, talk about scary, we are in out upper 60S and driving this car is so really scary. We do not need to have or cause an accident. It keeps happening, sad for us.

While driving on the highway at approximately 65 mph, the car loss all power and the transmission began to vibrate excessively in a jerking motion with an illumination of the wrench symbol. The warning indicator remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. The failure occurred nine times at various speeds while trying to get home. The check engine light came on remained on once we arrived home. Car has been at Ford dealer for two weeks now waiting on a fuel body throttle which is apparently on back order nationwide. Why there is not a recall on this very dangerous mechanical issue is beyond me!

While in heavy rush-hour traffic on interstate 64W near the 121 mile marker in Indiana, the vehicle lost power abruptly, started to run roughly and would not respond to throttle input. The wrench light appeared on the instrument cluster and rpms were unsteady, cycling erratically between 800-1,100 RPM. This stretch of interstate is a three-lane, long uphill grade and the incident occurred going up this grade. I turned on my emergency flashers, rolled my window down to signal by hand to other drivers my intent and barely made it across the lanes of traffic into the emergency lane without causing an accident. Many other drivers needed to swerve or brake hard to avoid me due to the rapid deceleration. The shuddering continued whether the vehicle gear selector was in park, neutral, or drive. I tried to continue driving on in the emergency lane to the next exit but on that uphill grade the vehicle was only capable of 2-3mph. I decided that I should stop just short of an emergency lane narrowing. After turning the vehicle on and off three times trying unsuccessfully to remedy the situation, I turned the vehicle off, opened the hood, and called for assistance. After about 10 minutes, I started the car again and the problem was no longer present. I drove the vehicle to the repair shop and I am currently awaiting their diagnosis. This was a serious situation and luckily there were no accidents and no one was injured.

My wife was driving on the main major highway two weeks ago around 45 miles per hour. The car lost all acceleration. She had to Dodge moving traffic to pull over with no power. After she shut the car off it started again without issues. Yesterday I was driving about 40 and also lost acceleration but still had power, it was weired the car was still on, but the yellow "wrench light" came on indicating it was a throttle control transmission problem! I pulled over put the car in park, turn off the ignition, and restart the car with out a problem. Its only 2010 Fusion so we shouldn't be having this issue... in these two incidents an experienced driver was behind the wheel my son has started driving and this is a receipt for disaster or worse! from what the Ford dealer mentioned it could be the throttle body problem and it's not covered under warranty. There needs to be a recall, especially with the number of compaints I have read before someone isn't so lucky in traffic. "Ford Motor Company", lets not wait for serious injury or death to address this issue! recall actions need to be taken asap "before" a serious incident !

While traveling at highway speed, the car suddenly lost throttle control and thus power to the drive train. This required me to coast to a stop along the shoulder of the interstate. After getting the vehicle to the Ford dealer for service, I was informed that the problem is with the "throttle body". they also indicated that there are so many Ford Fusion currently with this same problem that throttle body parts are on backorder for up to 2 months. And unfortunately the vehicle is unsafe to operate in its current state. I think this should warrant a recall, since it can (and did) result in unsafe event for the driver.

My Ford Fusion displayed a wrench icon on the dash and lost power on the garden state parkway. There was no shoulder for me to pull over to, and I had to coast until there was a patch of dirt to pull into. Terrifying to say the least. Took it to our local Ford dealership (where it is now), and we were told there is a backorder of 6800 throttle bodies, meaning we would have to rent a vehicle until ours was repaired. Ford should be paying for this rental car. I have researched this problem, and it appears to be rampant. This should be a recall and repaired at Ford's cost.

The warning icon remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. The failure recurred ten times while the contact traveled at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis and they were unable to detect a problem. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 82,650.

I was driving on a major highway in town going about 45 miles per hour. The car started shaking violently and I could not accelerate. I had to Dodge moving traffic while my car shut down. I had to put the car in park, turn off the ignition, and restart the car. A yellow wrench light came on while the car was shaking. I was able to avoid getting into an accident, however I was fearful for my life. There needs to be a recall, especially with the number of complaints I have read. It is beyond me how this is not under warranty, considering my car is less than 5 years old and doesn't even have 40K miles on it. After a tow to the local Ford dealership, I was told (4 days later) that it was the throttle body and it's not covered under warranty.

I was on the freeway when the 2010 Ford Fusion lost power, began to shudder and the wrench light illuminated on the instrument cluster. Luckily I was able to get to the side of the road before the vehicle died. I had the vehicle towed to a Ford dealer and they diagnosed the problem as a bad throttle body. After doing some very basic research on the internet I found that this is a huge problem and it isn't be covered under a recall or the powertrain warranty. I think that Ford should be, at least, helping consumers cover the cost of this replacement.

First incident was September 23, 2012. Was driving at about 45 mph and my 2010 Ford Fusion lost power and the wrench light came on. Car would not accelerate when peddle was pushed and was shaking as I pulled over. I was able to pull over and get the car restarted and drive home. A few days later the car would not start and Ford dealership replaced the battery and said that most likely caused the vehicle to lose power. I took their word for it. May 27 2013, 8 months later the car is losing power again. Happened once on the 27th and 4 times on the 28th as I attempted to go to work and as I drove it to the dealer to diagnose. Car is at dealers now waiting for their diagnosis.

After turning off the car and sitting there for about 5 minutes I was able to get the car safely off the road.
