We were driving home with our 11 week old son when the car wouldnt accelerate, even when the pedal was all the way to the ground. We were turning left at a solid grren light. My son sits on the right side of the car. A wrench appeared on the dashboard. The car was jerking as it slowed down. We put it in park, shut it off, and restarted the car. The code read P2112 throttle body actuator stuck closed. We removed the throttle body from the intake and manifold. The outlet of the intake was covered in stick black residue. We cleaned it with throttle body and intake cleaner. Reattached it and drove it around the block.

Shortly after arriving (fortunately) in Chicago area from KC, experienced loss of power, running rough.

Cost $330.00 to replace ignition coil at recommended independent mechanic. One month later we are looking at $440.00 to replace throttle body. (This is a separate problem and these are both common with Ford and this model and year in particular.) Mechanic recommends replacing all 4 coils if another goes out. What next?

This car was a gift to my wife from her brothers 3 years ago (Motor Trend "Car of the Year"!? - how much money did Ford pay for that?). I have never bought an American car - won't start now!

Less than a month after buying this used 2010 Fusion, I went on a 3 hour trip which turned into the first of many nightmares. I was driving down the interstate and had the cruise control on, all of a sudden the cruise clicked off, engine light and wrench light came on and also car lost all power. I thankfully was in the right lane and slowly got off to side of interstate, as car was shaking violently I shut car off and started up fine, all lights went off. Happened 4 times coming home..same thing. Took to dealership and they replaced charcoal filter. Seemed to work fine for about 1 month started again doing the same thing, thought since it took E85 gas I should put that in, nope didnt work. Let gas tank run to empty and put some stuff in to clean up gas. Worked well until about 1 month ago. I had my 3 grandchildren in car, going over railroad tracks it lept forward and lost power I was praying like crazy and slowly got to the side 5 seconds before gates went down.Also this has happened several times after that scare, in the middle of intersections, going down the interstate etc. it is a horrifying experience to even get in this car! Took it to our local Autozone they put on machine and said it is reading..gross leakage of emmisions. Took the car back to dealer they said tough luck lady warranty is up. Engine light still on. Also, now after car loses power it takes about 5 trys to start it.

Going down the expressway to the dealership (thinking about trading this car in for a different one) as I merged into the lane my car just decelerated and stopped running. I was able to pull over to the shoulder and restart the car but I had to turn it over 2x for it to start and gain its RPMs so I could take off. Very scary. Now that I know its the throttle body I can have the dealership start there since they couldn't figure it out last time. I really believe that we should not be held liable to pay this since it does seem widespread. Ford you are going to loose what patrons you have if you don't make this right. Heaven forbid someone gets into a serious accident on the expressway when their car decides to quit...You will be paying for more than just a faulty part on a car.

I was heading down a backrd going home...its a hill, without lighting, 1 lane but traffic goes both ways on the hill when all of a sudden the car lost all acceleration. I had to coast down the hill and just pray that no one was coming up. Sent my car to Ford dealership-they couldn't find a reason for this. They wanted to change a filter & the battery for 500.00. I went to Sears and bought a battery and now I am seeing things on the throttle body that is doing this to other cars. Why wont they just recall & save the customers they have left because I am ready to turn my car in.

In December, I was traveling 70mph on the interstate, when the car lost all acceleration. I had to pull in the median to avoid an accident. The car did it several more times, at intersections, on the highway, and on side roads, all creating a safety hazard. Then the car quit accelerating altogether. I replaced the throttle body, and two weeks later, same thing. Number 3 lasted three weeks. Now I have ordered number 4 from Ford, and think I got the last one available in the country. Everyone says the same thing, national back order.

I spoke with Ford, who encouraged me to go to the Ford dealership to see what code came up. Through research, the code is P2111 and I can't see paying extra when the dealership doesn't have the part to fix it. Our local dealership has several fusions in their lot waiting for a new throttle body.

Where is the recall? Do people have to die before Ford admits their throttle body is defective? What about the people that still owe payments and cannot drive their vehicle? This has really been a pain in the butt. I have not been able to drive my car for several weeks. This is my last Ford.

My daughter was taking my granddaughters to the store - ages 14 and 2 - and as she entered an intersection, the gas pedal quit working. She had to stop the car, turn it off, then restart it. She immediately turned around and came back home. My husband got online and started doing some research and it seems like a lot of the 2010 Fusion's have this problem. In fact, when we brought it to a Ford Dealership to have it fixed, they told us that they couldn't get the part in for five days, this has turned into over two weeks. Apparently Ford has used all of the replacement throttle bodies and they are having to remanufacture them because so many of them were going bad. I don't have a vehicle to drive for at least the next two weeks. This is the first Ford that I have owned, and I believe it will be the last. The people at the Ford dealership don't really seem to care that I have no way to get to work.

I was driving home and the car lurched, the gas pedal wasn't responding. I had to stop the car, turn it off, start it again and then it was drivable. The wrench symbol and the symbol for check engine both came on. I pulled off into a parking lot and called my husband. He started it, drove a little way, turned it off, started it again, repeated the process and the engine light and wrench light both went out. I drove it home with no problem. Since I only had a quarter of a tank of gas, I thought maybe that was the problem, but it turns out that it is the throttle body and that I need to replace it. The dealership closest to me took two days before they even looked at the car and that was only after calling them 5 times. They said they had ordered the part and that it would take five days before it would come in. We called another dealership in Lafayette, Louisiana and they said the part wouldn't be in until mid June. The parts manager said that Ford is making new parts because they have had so many of them that failed and for me to make sure that I didn't accept one of the old throttle bodies as a replacement because it would just go out too. This happened to me in the middle of a busy intersection - a very large truck came very close to hitting me. I'm afraid to drive the car. The dealership told me that this isn't covered and said they didn't have anything else that I could drive while waiting for my car to be fixed. My husband works nights, he gets off of work the same time that I am supposed to be at work. Needless to say, this is a very big problem for me.

While making a left turn on a green arrow, my car began to jerk, the wrench light icon came on along with the check engine light, the rpms went way down and my accelerator pedal was totally unresponsive. car almost behaved as if it were out of gas, although the fuel tank was full. I had to coast to the side of the road, praying I wasnt hit by other vehicles as the light had changed by this time. The car went from normal speed down to a crawl and would not respond until I shut off the car and re-started it, at which time it started a little rough then drove fine. took car to service dept, but there were no stored codes and they could not replicate problem. I have found this problem on many online posts, but ford does not acknowledge these problems. I am afraid to drive this vehicle as there is no warning before this happens and reports from many other ford fusion drivers of this happening on the interstate. Ford needs to issue a recall as this is a dangerous situation.

The car and engine decelerated with the engine not pulling the car even though still at 1000rpm.The throttle/transmission light came on.Shifting to neutral and back to drive the car would not move and no throttle response,I turned the ignition key off and after short wait restarted the engine and drove home with no more problems.This is my wife's car and she had reported a problem with it that I had been unable to duplicate until today,this is a very dangerous problem.Imagine this problem at 70mph on a busy Interstate.Oh,by the way,I was leaving a local Ford dealer where I had taken it to be checked when this happened,they were very busy and could not check on my problem until Monday,it is Friday today.I will park this car until I check it out.I am a retired mechanic with 40 plus years of aircraft experience but this should be a warranty item.I will take any help I can get.
