While driving at various speeds the car suddenly fails to accelerate. This is accompanied by the wrench light and the engine light. The engine light diagnostic code says throttle sensor. When it happens the car appears to stall out and will not accelerate but will coast. The engine is then turned off then back on and will drive normally again. It happens very sporadically. It's very dangerous to lose the ability to accelerate especially when making a turn or driving in a lane without a shoulder to pull over. From reading other posts I'm quite certain it is a defective throttle body and believe this part needs to be recalled. Lives are at risk!

I drive a 2011 Ford Fusion, and on August 8, 2013, I was driving on a highway at about 65 mph and I went down to about 5mph. I had to pull over and turn off the car. The check engine light and wrench light came on when this happened. After I shut it off the wrench light went off, but the check engine light stayed on. This happened again after I started the car again. The car is now in the shop. This should be a recall part.

Driving on the interstate when the wrench light came on and the engine stalled. Had to coast the car over to the roadside. Car was running very rough. Turned car off and restarted. Car idled normally. Drove about 1 mile and the car repeated the same problem. Problem occurred 4 times until I got off the interstate. Was able to drive the car to a safe place at about 30 miles an hour. Making arrangements to take car into dealer. Very dangerous situation as I was on a high speed interstate and could have been hit by oncoming traffic.

I was leaving a shopping center and had to a stop to yield to traffic. When I placed my foot on the accelerator, I noticed that the car seemed to have lost power. I could not accelerate above10 mph. I also felt the car shaking violently. The check engine and mechanic's wrench warning lights on the dashboard illuminated. I pulled to a stop at the gas station, shut off the engine and re-started the vehicle. Afterwards, the warning lights on the dashboard were no longer illuminated, and the car seemed to return to normal. A few miles down the road (on a highway where the speed limit is 50 mph), I came to a stop at a traffic light. Once the light turned green, I attempted to accelerate but found that my car had lost power once again and could hardly move. The check engine light was also illuminated again. I was stuck in the left lane of the road with no shoulder to pull onto--a very dangerous situation. I put on my hazard lights, turned the car off and on again. Then, I was able to drive the car normally a few miles to my home. However, the engine light remained illuminated. I had the car towed to a repair shop because I considered it unsafe to drive. The shop informed me that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The part was on national back-order for over a week.. clearly, this is a common problem for Ford Fusion. Considering the safety risks, I am very surprised that there has been no recall.

I was driving my car at 60 mph and it lost all power. I was able to pull over to the side of the road, kill the car, and when I restarted it; it seemed to be running fine. This same incident occurred today, 7/3/2013 while I was driving approximately 35 mph. This time the car did appear to be running rough and once again had no power. It did not start as easily, it seemed to run rough when it first started and then it ran fine. This is a huge safety hazard! this could occur at any time in any kind of traffic.

On a few separate occasions, while either sitting in traffic at a light or driving my 2011 Ford Fusion has stalled in the middle of traffic. It hasn't happened for a few months and there is no rhyme or reason to when it will happen. When the stalling occurs the car literally shuts down in the middle of traffic and I have to restart the car to proceed.

First incident when at a complete stop car physically jerking and jumping unless in park with engine light on..had Ford roadside to tow to fairway Ford kingsport where car was purchased where I was told it appeared to be the muffler and throttle body. When P/U car they had replaced cam solenoid switch and muffler. Car still had a loud vibration noise when on incline.

I was traveling about 35 to 40mph when the car starting acting up. Anytime I had to slow down and then speed up the RPM would not shift, when it did shift it would jerk the car forward. I also have been having an issue where I would step on the gas and it would act as if it was in neutral. This continues to happen and I fear that one of these times I will be in an accident with my kids in the car. These are all transmission issues, I have brought it in twice now first time they did the tsb which was to reset the PCM and my ac wasn't and still is not working. Resetting the PCM did not work so now back in the shop it sits. This car is only 4 months old and already has safety issues being the transmission. There needs to be a recall before there are deaths.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact was on a steep incline and shifted the gear selector into the reverse; suddenly the vehicle rolled forward 6-8 feet. The contact engaged the brakes with force repeatedly before the vehicle came to a complete stop. The failure recurred when the contact shifted into drive, the vehicle traveled in reverse. The contact notified the dealer who stated that the vehicle functioned as designed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. The contact was in the process of taking the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The failure mileage was 1,800. Updated 06/16/11 the consumer also stated the engine would stall. Ford stated it was a normal operating characteristic of the vehicle due to the redesign of the torque converter. Updated 06/22/11
