Would love to hear any fixes on this issue. A simple Google search reveals lots of people having this problem, but I still have yet to find someone posting a definitive cause or fix for it. Help! :)

Bought my wife a 2011 Ford Fusion SEL 2 years ago. It was nice at first but then started making a weird grinding and popping noise in the steering. Took it to Ford and they said they couldn't find anything wrong. She is embarrassed to drive it. Very frustrating.

Fusion SEL V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 70,000 miles

I have not found a recall on the problem, but will be in touch with Ford for a fix. I will get back for an update. It would appear that the problem is in the electrical, as some odd notices have appeared (engine light, fuel door, etc.0 now the steering has become very noisy (steering is electrical).

My daughter took it to the dealership and they said they would have to keep it but unfortunately she is a College student and didn't have another way to get around so she took it to have fluid levels checked, they said it was low on power steering fluid so they put fluid in. Ran ok for a day and then as soon as the weather outside starts to get hot the grinding noise starts. In the early morning and if it's cool there is no problem with it.. Pretty weird.....
