Ford could do a much better job in addressing the problem with their 2011 Ford Fusion transmissions. I should have known, however, because my 2003 Taurus' transmission totally failed at around 61,000. On May 5, I drove out of the parking lot of a supermarket and the engine revved several times. It drifted bumping and thumping a few more yards and finally stopped all together. I should not have been surprised because that day the car was not accelerating smoothly. However, when I came out of that parking lot into the busy highway I was totally shocked when the car just stopped. It started right up, but I could not put it into gear. After a few tries it went into gear and my husband by that time had come and he drove it home, slowly.

We had it towed to the dealer because I can't trust it. This is the second time I have taken the car in for repair. The first time it was because the transmission was slipping, now when I am coming to a stop or slowing down it will make a loud bumping noise and the entire car will shake. Does not happen all of the time but enough to let me know that something is wrong.
