My 2012 Ford Fusion is constantly having issues...please keep in mind, that I take very good care of my car with regular oil changes, system checks (I follow the book to the T), tires rotated, and constant wash/detailed. She looks great but doesn't run the best. Also, the below items happened starting in March of this year. I am starting with the oldest issue to the newest issue.
Door Locks/Handles: Problem: 3 out of 4 handles and locking units had to be replaced. First to go was the rear passenger door the handle just broke off. I don't have kids and I very rarely have guests in my car. So, for this handle to just be broken one day is baffling to me. Second to go was the front passenger door locking mechanism, it just wouldn't lock when I use the remote key lock. It did manually lock. The third door handle to go was the front driver side handle. It would remain locked. The only way I was able to get out of my vehicle was rolling down the window and pulling on the door handle outside to open the car door. At this point, is when I took it in to get fixed. Resolution: Ford Dealership charged me $1,100 to replace all three handles. I am able to now safely enter and exit my vehicle.
Windshield Wipers: Problem: Not aligning with the throttle switch speed (it is either on full blast or barely moving) Diagnostic: Took the car to my local ford dealership, paid $175 for them to tell me that the issue did not show up on their electrical system check. They did say that the electrical unit did seem warped and charged me an additional $200 to replace it. During the next rain, not even a week after, the problem continued. I brought it back to Ford to check it and they couldn't recreate the issue nor find a problem. Resolution: Still doesn't work correctly and Ford doesn't see the problem, so they cannot fix it. To them it is not broken.
Air Conditioner: Problem: Air was blowing hot air when set to cold. Diagnostic: 1st Place (Local Car Shop) - They charged me $100 to check and add refrigerant. 2nd Place (Ford Dealership) - Confirmed it was an electrical switch inside the dash that failed and my car was overcharged. Charged me $700 to fix. Resolution: Ford Dealership fixed and I now have cold air.
Car Stalling Problem: My car battery just recently died and I took it to a local car store to install a brand new battery. Immediately. my car attempted to stall out, but it recovered pretty quickly. The next day, today, as I approached a red light, I came to a complete stop and then my car stalled. I put my car in park, turned the car to the off position, and then turned the key back to the on position and the car immediately started. After that, I noticed that my car has been idling pretty low between 1 and .5 rpm's whenever I would break either to slow down for another vehicle to slow for a turn. Resolution: I haven't done anything yet. I honestly cannot take another financial hit with this vehicle. Although, it sounds electrical.
All of my issues are dealing with the electrical aspect of my vehicle. Although there is not a recall for this specific issue, I really hope something comes out soon. Every person I spoke to who has a 2010-2015 Ford Fusion are trading them in because they would have some issue or another and are just done with it. I am almost there. Any advice?
