Wheel stud broke off while removing winter rims. Now I see of the recall for steel wheels but not my year. Figures, they always do this to exclude as much as possible. Now I have to replace all 20 just for the safely factor of my wheels not falling off and killing me or my family on the highway. Pathetic how these car companies get away with the junk they sell and only recall as few as possible.

On June 21, after leaving a restaurant, I notice the icon reporting low tire pressure. At home, I check the pressure s and found the effected tire. I could not change the tire to the spare because the lug wrench the Ford provided with the car did not fit on the lug nuts. I had to drive to the dealer stopping on occasion to refill the bad tire as the pressure decreased. This was the pain in the ass part. I asked the service clerk how Ford was handling this problem (obvious manufacturer's defect). He said I should buy a larger lug wrench and recommended a size of 19 1/2 mm. The write up regarding this problem on this site is dated August 2017. Has the issue been resolved? What alternatives have bee offered/suggested?

took wifes 2012 Fusion in for usual oil change and tire rotation - was told the lug nuts were swollen due to aluminum cap - this meant their lug wrench or torque wrench would not fit over any of the existing 20 lug nuts - ford would manually take off existing lug nuts and replace with in kind lug nuts at $7-10/a piece - i asked why this was not under a recall by Ford as it appeared to be one of two problems : 1-over torquing by ford maintenance or 2 - inferior lug nuts - not response from dealer , other than to buy my own lug nuts and bring them in and they would replace existing ones - wonder what you do if you have a flat ?

The lug nuts were defective and all had to be replaced before tires could be rotated. If I had a flat tire while on highway I would not have been able to get lug nuts off to change tire. The dealership had to drill them on off.
