There have been numerous reclass regarding door latch issue regarding 2013 Ford fusion. Took it to the dealership apparently my particular car is not part of recall even though it matches the issue.

The right back door latch broke suddenly and i haven't been able to close the door so i had it tied with a rope from the inside to hold the door because fixing it is a bit expensive. Then a couple of days ago, the door latch on the left door broke too and i had to do the same thing and tie it from the inside. This is dangerous and happened so suddenly and is really annoying now i can't use both back doors.

We were on vacation in the Arkansas mountains and stopped at a park and when we all went to get back in the car the rear driver's side passenger door wouldn't stay shut. It acted like the spring on the door latch was broken. It wouldn't latch at all. Luckily my Uncle had some cord and we did our best to tie the arm rest door handle to the head rest. My son had to sit by the door that kept trying to come open every time I turned a corner as we wound through the mountains on the way home. Not to mention the annoying bing bing bong and door ajar message every time. Argh. After having the power steering problem 3 days before and now this, I was ready to drive the car off a bluff. Luckily this repair was covered by a recall. If you haven't had a chance to get this recall performed yet I suggest you keep some kind of cord or rope in your car just in case. This would have been a much worse situation if my Uncle didn't have that cord.

Get in the car with my girl (she's in the passenger seat) to leave work. She shuts the door at which point the first occurrence of the door not latching. After slamming the door several times, the door finally latches shut. Fast forward a week, we now have the issue of the door randomly opening while driving down the road. As the issue became more and more frequent, we took it to the dealership to have the issue resolved.

I had already researched the issue and discovered there were recalls for other ford vehicles including my model for this very issue, guess what, second ford vehicle that I have owned that has had the same issue as other vehicles that were recalled and mine weren't on the list. The first being a 2001 f-150 supercrew master cylinder sensor leaking brake fluid. Not on the recall, no problem, local parts store had the part and was no big deal to fix. Now, we have a random opening door issue and, yep, you guessed it, not on the recall list.

I have battle over the phone for several days with the Ford corporation to get the issue resolved and they refuse, not only that, they have the part to replace it monopolized so that people can not get the part to fix it from their local stores. I'm almost certain it is probable made in some foreign country for $5 or less. Not at the dealership tho, nope, to fix Fords mistake it cost consumers a whopping $186 and some change. Talked to Ford customer relations, and requested a copy of the phone conversation since they record it and they refused.

At this point, since Ford does not seem to care to do the right thing for their customers, I do not intend to own a ford product from this point forward, I will also warn others who are interested in ford products to be aware of this snake organization and will gladly jump on the band wagon of groups who like to tease with the name FORD, Found on roadside dead. P.S. Most articles I've seen about the door latch issue suggest that people could fall out of the vehicle if they are not wearing their seat belt, oh yea, forgot to mention, they have a recall on those as well. The century Ford manufactured death machines.

My wife called me and told me her rear passenger door would not latch. I took my car to Walker Ford, since they are the ones that performed the recall (for the same issue). I got a call late in the day, informing me that it would be $290 to replace the broken latch. I WAS PISSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This seems to be a on going problem with Ford Fusions. I told the dealer that I wasn't going to pay, just leave it alone. At the moment my $28,000 fusion is sitting in my garage with the battery disconnected. It is not drive-able without the door slinging open. This is a real safety concern and Ford doesn't give a sh*t if one of my kids falls out. I am going to give the dealer a call on Monday and then determine if I can find a lawyer that is willing to sue Ford. This isn't a wear item!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is an active ford recall for this exact door latch problem. The recall continues to grow, adding more and more vehicles. I called the ford corporate office because my car was manufactured in the plant of the original recall, and they tell me my vehicle is not on the recall list. I need my car repaired, and I think ford should be the one to fix it.

Passenger side door latch will not close and lock door. My VIN fell outside the recall notice. I notified Ford without any compensation to fix known problem on other cars. It cost me $350.00 to get fixed. I’m concerned the other latches will suffer the same fate. This is obviously a design flaw with safety implications. Ford needs to address this problem on all cars, not just the ones that are within the VIN recall notice. Someone is going to get injured and they will be responsible for the outcome.
