  • 109,000 miles
I was driving highway in sport mode when I could not move shifter out of sport mode so got to red light to try to move my shifter into another gear didn't work so shut car down but car couldn't recognize it was not in park and car wouldn't turn back on and would drift backwards so had to put emergency break on so my car won't drift down hill in middle of highway. I had to have flat bed tow car away to garage, I seen a recall on the 2.5 Fusion and escape shifter cable but not on 2.0 which is same exact problem has happened with my 2.0 Fusion. I do not have recall numbers on hand..

When going down a hill whether you are using cruise control or not, the car will downshift really hard, once, twice and sometimes three times before you get to the bottom of the hill. This is an ongoing problem that started in April of 2020. The backup camera stopped working and it was completely replaced and it still does not work.

On multiple occasions, driving at speeds over 60mph for more than 50 miles, causes a system alert that says steering assist fault and the power steering goes out. The first time I was able to pull over before the power steering went out. The next time, my boyfriend was driving and he had to veer onto the shoulder. Most recently, my grandmother drove my car to the airport and was unable to get the vehicle out of traffic turning into the airport as she was not strong enough to maneuver the car into the parking lot. I regularly keep up with all necessary maintenance and have brought the car to modica brothers as well as a local mechanic and they have both told me it is bolt corrosion as they assessed all other possibilities. Upon research, I found a recall for Ford Fusion manufactured in hermosillo in 2013 under recall #19S26. I contacted Ford about having my car added to the recall and was advised to reach out to NHTSA. As this is a big safety hazard, I wish to have this addressed immediately.

When driving this vehicle and you go to make a stop with the vehicle at like 20 miles to 15 miles per hour the braking system go to breaks really hard or jerk. Make it hard for you to stop. And feel like you about to fly through the window. Making the traction control and hill assist light indicate, and the light will go back out on the vehicle as if not happened once the car is in motion. At 5 to 10 miles per hour. This will happen very often while driving.

Shifter cable came off at transmission linkage. (cable bushing broke). Was parking and when shifted into park gear shift felt like it moved freely. Turned off car took foot off brake and car rolled. Applied brake and tried to start car. Car would not start. Gear shift was in park position and would not move. Dash indicator showed car was in drive. Applied parking brake. After asking mechanic about issue I looked at shifter cable at linkage and it was detached. Bushing was gone.

5 out of 10 times when car is put into gear the transmission bucks hard. 3 out of 10 times transmission shifts exceedingly hard to the point it shutters the car. This has been looked at by 2 dealerships and was told "it's normal" I have owned car since 33K, car now has 160K, still bucks at least once week and shifts hard at least once a week.

Shifted gear to park, on the dashboard it was stuck in neutral yet the gear was in park. Could not move the shift handle, it was locked in place. Towed car to dealership. They reported the brushings needed to be replaced. This issue is similar to a recall placed on other Ford Fusion with the same year and model. The recall # is 19S16. Ford corporation said the recall did not apply to my vehicle even though it is the exact same issue they initiated a recall for the other Ford Fusion from two specific plants.

We have had several electrical issues that occur daily with the vehicle. These issues include all windows, ac/heat, gauges, blinkers and locks continuously turning on and off while driving. When this occurs it also stops our ability to shift the vehicle into or out of park. Our mechanic had the vehicle for approx two months replacing several modules, alternator and battery with no impact on the issues. A Ford tech looked at the vehicle and also could not find the problem. This is a daily occurrence.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while stopped, the contact attempted to shift the gear shifter however, the gear shifter ceased. The contact stated that the vehicle was still able to roll backwards. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. After waiting for 45 minutes, an independent mechanic was contacted and the independent mechanic turned the vehicle off. Clinton family Ford of rock hill, Inc located at 1884 canterbury glen ln, rock hill, SC 29730, (803) 366-3181, was contacted and made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed nor repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 19V362000 (power train) as a possible solution to the failure however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
