My wife drives a 2013 Ford Fusion SE 1.6L EcoBoost as her daily driver. She purchased the car new and has been a really good car until the beginning of this year (2018). The battery died so we replaced it and everything seem to be fine. A few weeks later she went to work one day and it wouldn't start and had to get someone at her work to jump/boost her off. She came home and told me about it and I went out and the car started with no issues. The next day the same issue happened again.
We have replaced the alternator and battery and still the issue exists. I have had full diagnostics ran on this car and no one can find any issues. Every diagnostic test shows that everything is working perfectly fine. I can't find any recalls on this model of the car for these issues but I keeps finding posts on several forums where many people who own these cars are having the same issue.
Why has Ford stepped up to the plate and offered a solution? If we can get this thing working right again we are going to get rid of it and we will never own another one!

I stopped for coffee on the way work as usual. My car would not start when I attempted to head to work after getting my coffee. A gentleman tried to give my car a jump. The battery is fairly new and under warranty still. When you turn the key all the lights come on, door chimes, but it doesn't start. Then we noticed the dash indicated reverse but the gear shift if in park. Had my car towed to fritts ford in riverside where i get all my service done. Not even an hour later, they called me and said that it looked like an act of nature and that it appeared something had been chewing on the wiring. The problem is i had told them about my car had seemed to have an electrical short due to my hot air blowing ac coming on by itself. How could they have car for a week and not check this problem out.

As stated in a prior review, I had stalling issues and when the car stalled I could not crank the motor, stating the engine would not start. I had to leave the vehicle sitting for some time before it would start. Some Time Later After taking the car to the dealer for the first time because of over temperture issue that killed the powert to the engine "to prevent futher damage" even after allowing the car to cool down, it still did not run as it should have displaying over temperture. they wanted $900 to replace fuel pressure sensor, coolant hose, bypass coolant valve, and flush the radiator. I told them no thats not going to fix it and Im not paying $900 for a car I'm already paying $480 a month for this is rediculouis!!! what happen to the cars that ran 100000 miles with no issues??? this is an Error on Fords part they dont want to own up to the POS's they are selling. its simple the Engineering of the ecoboost motors are not designed well at all. The cooling system in the US is different from the cooling system in Europe and they are not having these issues so what does that tell you?

no power - battery at full charge
Out to my car this morning, no power at all - as if there was no battery in the car. Got the car jumped and drove to an auto parts store 1 mile away to have the battery tested. I was told it had a full charge. The radio stations/clock/etc did not reset however the clock was 20 minutes behind - which is about how long it took me to move my wife's car into position and jump the car. Recently had some engine codes thrown and the tech asked me if I had been in a skid. I had not. He reset the codes then a week later they threw again. They went off on their own about 2 days later.

Went to start the car after driving it the day before and it will not turn over. It sounds like its trying but will not start. After having 3 mechanics look at it and they could not figure out why. I had to have it towed to a Ford dealership in the next town. After a week I get a call and the dealership stated they got the car running and would cost me about $350.00.
They said the battery was almost dead and they had to replace it along with resetting the car. I told them I will be there to pick it up on Saturday. This was Thursday when they called. I then get a call on Friday stating they went to move the car and its not starting again. They will call me when they get it running again.

I am unable to get the car to turn the engine over. I know the battery in the key fob is low. Will that fix it? Is it worth a try?

tHIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES. AFTER NOT DRIVING THE CAR FOR A WEEK GO TO START IT AND NOTHING HAPPENS. NO LIGHTS NO NOTHING. HAVE TO JUMP START THE CAR. WHEN IT STARTS IT SAYS THE BATTERY IS LOW. "NO KIDDING" BUT WHY IT IS JUST SITTING THERE NO LIGHTS ON NO PHONE OR ANY ACCESSORIES PLUGGED IN DURING THAT TIME JUST A DEAD BATTERY. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED IT WAS DURING THE SUMMER AFTER USING THE WIFE'S CAR FOR OUR VACATION FOR 3 WEEKS. WE CAME HOME I WENT TO GO SOMEWHERE AND YEAH YOU GUESSED IT DEAD BATTERY ON MY CAR. THIS TIME WAS DRIVING MY TRUCK BECAUSE OF SNOW FOR THE PAST WEEK ROADS ARE CLEAR AND NEED TO GO SOMEWHERE AND DIDN'T WANT TO USE THE TRUCK DEAD BATTERY BREAK OUT JUMP BOX AND VIOLA UP AND GOING AGAIN. THIS IS ANNOYING. MEANWHILE 2011 NISSAN QUEST WITH EVERY ELECTRICAL OPTION AVAILABLE IT HAS YET TO HAVE A DEAD BATTERY.

Went to start car and wouldn't crank. Lights, dash and radio turned on fine. Tried jump starting car and nothing. Unable to take car out of park. Several alerts on dash including: park brake malfunction, steering assist fault, service advance trac, engine coolant over temperature, low engine oil pressure. Had to have car towed to dealer. They said after running diagnostics unsure, but after restarting system car turned on fine and no alerts. Was told they were in contact with Ford over potential causes, but still unsure.
Update from Jul 15, 2014: Picked up car from dealer in evening, 12 days after being towed there. Drove to work next morning and everything appears fine. Went to start car 1.5 hours after arriving at work and same situation as before. Car won't crank, has full power and unable to get out of park. Had car towed to dealer again.

It took them 2 months and countless number of parts to finally guess what might be a fix. Field engineer from Ford finally came out 2 times to guess at the problem before solving the starting issue. Well it worked for a week and then the whole electrical system (I think) melted down on the freeway.
AskedFord for a replacement for this piece of junk. Their rep I had the displeasure to deal with put in a request for a repurchase. They wanted me take a deduction for mileage usage, would not cover the relicensing cost of $400 , as well as $1300 in addition dealer add one that can not be transferred to the other car.
Ford thinks this is a fair deal ( for therm). The customer gets screwed on the deal. What can you expect from a second rate company anyway. Defective products, rude customer service from the Ford rep, and thousands of dollars loss for the customer.
Update from Mar 6, 2015: To James B. After 9 1/2 months I resolved my issue with Ford. I finally was helped by a very a Regional Manager from Fords sales side of the company. Customer service proved to be no help at all Judy W.,the area rep for Ford Customer Service should be fired, but I digress. The solution, and what I asked for from the very beginning, was to replace the vehicle. I ordered a new 2014 Fusion and took delivery approx 13 months after I purchased the first Fusion. I would be willing to talk to you about what steps I went through and you can contact me at Diigger54@Gmail.com. I am happy with the new car and very impressed with how I was treated by the the sales side of the company.

Vehicle doesn't start when I turn the key. This has happenned about ten times. I insert the key, start the car, and the key comes back to the neutral position, three to four seconds pass, then the vehicle starts. I asked the service tech and he stated I need to enter the key, let the car "read" the key, and then start the car. Makes sense, but still doesn't seem right. The issue has continued with no fix.

While in Arkansas visiting her family my wife's car would not start and started to roll forward a bit like it was not in gear. She set the emergency brake and when they read the manual they found out how to reset the electrical system once they did that the car started fine and has been working. she is hesitant of turning the car off to put fuel in it.

Tried to turn the car on and it wouldn't turn over. All electrical worked, lights, gauges, chimes, etc. Remote start would time out. Tried entering and leaving vehicle, remote lock, keyless entry, every combination of entering and starting ended with the same issue, nothing happening when turning the key.
While waiting for the tow truck, I disconnected the battery, waiting a minute and then reconnected. Then, suddenly everything worked. I haven't had the problem since.

When trying to start the car I received a error stating that 'No Key is Detected'. (this car has an actual key you put into the ignition) I followed trouble shooting by replacing the remote battery, ($7 dollars) disconnecting the car battery for 20 minutes, verified the battery had 12.8 volts and tested good at Autozone. Had to have my car towed to Ford ($85), get a rental car ($70) just to have them call the next day and say the car started with no issued. The computer reported a code of low voltage.
Ford tested the battery and alternator, everything checked out as working perfectly. After checking the electrical system for loose wires, corrosion, frayed wires..... seems to lead to that this is an programming issue withing the computer. Not sure what else would cause the computer to detect low voltage and cause the: 'No Key Detected' and low voltage error.
Are there any solutions for this issue? Does Ford update software when you have recalls service/ (recent one I had fixed was for the cooling system and they made changes to the programming of the computer)
If this happens while driving...... not sure this is safe and I see other post with this happening
