My story is similar to others. I was reversing out of my garage and put my car into drive but it went backwards. I hit the brakes and put the car into park. I tried moving the shifter through the other gears and it felt loose, never engaged in any of the other gears. Of course this happens on a Saturday afternoon when no auto shop is open. I call to get a tow and patiently wait for this morning to find out what it was.

In the meantime I google and find that I am not the only one with this issue and I triple check my VIN to see if my car was included in on the recall(of course its not). It was the shifter cable that snapped and no local Ford dealer has one. If my friend didn't own the shop I took it to I would be waiting til Jan 4th for the new one to come in. Lucky for me he is driving 2 hours one way to pick it up.

Ford really needs to get their sh*t together on this. This could end up putting people in a very dangerous situation.

I was reversing out my driveway and when I went to put my car in drive, it went into Park and stuck there! However, the dashboard said I was still in reverse. I took my foot off the brake and kept going backwards! I had to put my parking brake on and wait for a tow truck for 2 and a half hours in the middle of the road.

Ford won't cover the cost to replace this nor give a loaner vehicle. They say it is because the recall hasn't technically been issued. The parts for this won't be ready until the end of September. The mechanic wants to charge $435.00 to fix this. If there isn't a fix yet what are you putting on my car and charging me for??

This is my first FORD thought Id give it a try but its DEFINITELY MY LAST!!! The service Ive received sucks! Nobody knows whats going on and they don't care if your out of a car! I could have killed somebody or injured somebody badly! Get your sh*t together FORD!!!

I stopped for gas and when I started my car and tried to move my gear shift to drive it was stuck. Would not budge. I had to wait for nearly 3 hours for someone to come get me and my car from the gas station. When we got it checked out at the Ford Dealership, it was a busted cable. This is ridiculous! I have never been on the side of the road, let alone stuck at a gas station, with any other vehicle. and this includes a 13 year old Nissan Altima with over 250,000 miles on it. This was the biggest pain in the ass I have

I pulled up to the hospital parking lot where my husband is admitted and suddenly my car kept moving and wouldn't go in to park mode, I had the gear shift in park but it kept rolling, I had to force it . It was really weird cause I could not move the gear shift any longer and my brakes seemed to be lock as well as my car would not start any longer. Frustrated!!!!! I call the auto club and had them to tow to the nearby Ford company, they were super nice, until they gave me the total of my bill and told me what was wrong, I didn't need this right now, I have a sick husband, I am away from home and I just don't need this news right now, I searched for recall, and guess what 1 complaints that this has happen too, yeah right, millions of people have bought this car and nobody else had this problem, unlikely!!! Oh well!!! I am blessed that the Ford company was about 10 mins away and that I was in the area when it happen, and I am stuck at the hospital anyway, until they can fix it. So I am Blessed. Friday the 13th, awww I don't believe in that junk, but I believe that God allows things to happen for a reason and I am, thankful that all the situation had me in the right place, cause it would have cost me more money. So I got it fixed, took my whole check and some , but grateful, that I had it.

Signed a frustrated, but I know who is in control woman.

My ford fusion is a 2013 which means its ONLY three years old and the gear shift cable broke, when i went to put my car in park the transmission was automatically switched to reverse. i luckily noticed my car wasn't in park before I was about to step out the car or i could have been ran over! Since my extended warranty nor my car insurance won't cover the cost because its considered wear and tear I'm stuck without a vehicle till I find $600 to fix the mechanical problem.
