3 years to the day and 1000 miles over warranty I noticed little paint bubbles at the front edge of the hood. So, of course, they won't cover it because it's out of warranty. Makes perfect sense, right? The more miles you drive, the more you wear out your paint, and the more likely you are to have corrosion. And it obviously happened AFTER I went over 36,000 miles. NOT!!! I've learned that this is an ongoing problem with Ford vehicles, and that they're aware of it. It's known as "white rust." It's aluminum corrosion caused by improperly handling during assembly. The local dealership is doing what they can to help me. I've very pleased with the local folks. But Ford won't get any more of my business.

While washing my Fusion I noticed a little spot that looked like I missed a spot. Upon further rubbing and inspection it was obviously corrosion starting. The car had just over 30,000 miles on it and only two years old at this point. I brought it up while I was at Mooresville Ford for service. I was told that it was rusting ( Aluminum hood) due to being in a harsh environment... This car has never been out of the state of NC for longer than a week since I bought it new. Over the past 6 months the spot has gotten worse and even more spots are starting to show up. I brought it up again while at Mooresville Ford for service and this time I was told that it was caused by a rock chip because now the original spot is starting to shed the paint. How do you explain the spots where there is no sign of a "rock chip"??? I was told that the body shop could handle the repair with no problem. I have bought 3 vehicles from Mooresville Ford and I believe this is my absolute last. It's the last Ford I'll ever buy I believe. This right here is the reason why Toyota and Honda are taking such a big chunk of the vehicle sales in the Untited States. They stand behind their product. I feel like Fird should own up to poor quality and make it right. I grew up in a Ford house hold and have bought nothing but Ford vehicles since I flew the coup. This is unfortunately not the only problem I have had with this Fusion and Mooresville Ford just makes me feel like they do not give a damn. I just get "we can get you into a new vehicle today" when I complain.

Was told by Ford body shop manager that Ford Motor will say that's my problem. Said I should have noticed the bubbling under hood under leading rubber seal. Who in the world looks for bubbling. Told me they changed to aluminum hoods and still using paint for the steel body. I asked if the use zinc chromate for primer and he said it doesn't matter. Told me this was the 1st Fusion that he has seen with this issue. Manager, said Mustang and Explorer have been having this issue for years!

My wife had been out of state for a long time taking care of her dying mother who had stage 4 bone cancer. She takes car to Valvoline Center to have oil changed and takes her car through the car wash. If this is an issue, why weren't we given a heads up to look for problems with the hood???

This is the 2nd new vehicle I have owned that is a Ford, I've leased Fords since 1996. I wish I leased this Fusion now. Body shop manager said about $650 to sand blast leading edge of hood and paint. No guarantee on it because it will bubble somewhere else! He said $1,350 for a new hood, aluminum, and I would get a lifetime warranty on that hood! Shared his concern about the new Ford pickups that are constructed of the aircraft aluminum! Said that Ford is still using same painting process on these trucks and he's concerned on how to fix the potential problems with these trucks. Said 2017 models now will only have 36,000 mile base warranty. Kinda feel a way that Ford can screw the public.

I've owned Fords since 1986 and I'm strongly looking at Toyota now. Terrible to treat any vehicle owner. Waiting to hear from regional manager about my issue. Body shop manager did say they may meet me 1/2 on the cost, but don't hold my breath!!!!

I am an automotive painter. I work at a small privately owned high end shop that does exotic cars including Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Maserati. We also have an account with a local Ford Dealership. I purchased my 2014 Ford Fusion brand new in June of 2014. I drive 80-100 miles a day. I clean my car almost daily with a quick detail spray and only wash with water when needed. Sometimes once a month at the most in the summer but once a week in winter to remove salt. I decided to buff and wax my car after winter salt left tiny scratches in the paint. While waxing it I noticed tiny bubbles in the paint on the hood above the left drivers headlamp. It has since gotten worse. I've seen this on the 2005 and up mustangs with aluminum hoods and it only gets worse. The only way to fix it is to replace the hood because the corrosion is coming from the inside out at the seam where the top hood skin is attached to the underside hood. Even if I sanded it out right now and apply epoxy primer and re paint the hood it will bubble again because once aluminum starts to oxidize it continues to spread. Ford motor company knows this is an issue. I was told they use carbon steel presses to stamp the aluminum panels. Once steel touches aluminum the aluminum almost instantly starts to corrode/oxidize so it's already doomed before ever having paint applied. I currently own a 93 full size Bronco. A 92 Mustang 5.0 LX and a 87 Mustang GT convertible that I absolutely love. But this 2014 Fusion has had many issues which I'll post in other sections. It will be hard for me to consider buying another newer ford. I had a 2007 Toyota Camry Se prior to the Fusion and I loved that car. I put 150k miles on it with only oil changes brakes and new tires. You're messing up Ford. And I'm not happy.
