Fusion Titanium 2L V4 Turbo

While driving, the A/C panel, radio panel, and passenger windows stopped functioning. A friend said when he had a Ford Explorer, this would happen. He said to charge the battery. I did, and the electrical components came back to life. The problem recurred a few months later, so I charged the battery again, which worked for a few days and recurred. I replaced the battery, which initially did not fix the problem, but after sitting overnight, the components came back to life again.

I looked in the manual and found this:

Battery and Charging System

Message Low Battery Features Temporarily Turned Off

Action Displayed when the battery management system detects an extended low-voltage condition. Various vehicle features will be disabled to help preserve the battery. Turn off as many of the electrical loads as soon as possible to improve system voltage. If the system voltage has recovered, the disabled features will operate again as normal.

This appears to be working as designed. I did not see the message, but the symptoms and solution match the description in the owner's manual. The only thing I'm wondering now is, what is the correct battery for this car? The first battery that had the problem was purchased about a year ago from O'Reilly and was the recommended size, voltage, and cold cranking amps (CCA -- 590). The replacement battery is only slightly higher in CCA (600).

During August, 2016 in Southern California, my 2014 Ford Fusion started acting really weird. One day I got in my car after work and none of the electrical components would work. The A/C wouldn't work, the Back-Up camera wouldn't work, the Temperature gauge didn't register, the volume control in the touch screen didn't work, nothing on the touch screen would work. The windows wouldn't work. I was stuck in a VERY Hot car. I have Black Leather seats, so this only intensified the fact.

I went to the closest Dealership, the couldn't look at my car, so I went to the next dealership that could look at it sooner. I got the car there and as soon as the mechanic got in the car to drive it into the back my car started working. They kept it just to look it over, but they couldn't replicate what I had seen it do. It has done this several times since.

I finally took it into the dealership again on November, 11th. This time the mechanic did get to see what my car was doing, but by the time they went to work on it, my car was working perfectly fine. The paperwork says "Can't duplicate problem" so since it starts working again, essentially there is no problem.

I spoke with a Lemon Law lawyer, was told I would need to have the car in 4 times to be able to even have a case for the Lemon Law.

Back in January my radio, AC, windows, and locks would not work. I thought it was the battery and it came back on after a couple of hours. It would do this randomly for about a month, then it became less frequent.

Then a couple months later my keys stopped working, they wouldn't lock or unlock the car and all the same problems that started back in January happened again, I dropped my car off at the dealership for 3 weeks and they worked directly with Ford to fix the problem. My car had given off a load of codes and the problem seemed to be solved.

I had the car for almost exactly 1 week and it started it again. My car has been at the dealership for a few days and will not act up for them but is throwing out more codes. But I did take videos and photos of the problems I had again after I received the car. If this happens again after this time I hope Ford exchanges it for a reliable perfectly functioning car. I have had the car for less than 2 years and I am paying for something that is defected. It is frustrating and an inconvenience.

This problem started last summer (2015) - all of a sudden the electronics within the car will shut off and not work (climate control, radio, windows). The touch screen will make a click noise, but nothing works. The windows will do nothing during this time.

Let me tell you it gets very hot in a car in the heart of summer - there were multiple times my clothes were very damp from my 25 minute drive home from work. Or ask my kids how it felt after they played a soccer game in 90 degree weather.

I took to dealership and they had for 2 days, but it never happened for them. They told me they cleared a lot of error codes. And it stayed working for awhile.

Luckily for me I have a 4-wheel drive for winter time, so I wasn't, driving this car when heat and defrost are most important. Got it back out 2 weeks ago and it's happened multiple times. Scheduled for 4-11-16 to drop off for service. Hopefully they have a fix this time around.

Update from Jun 23, 2016: The dealership I use had my car for a total of 2 weeks in April 2016 . . . . the first week (April 10th) I dropped on Monday (4-11) and picked back up after work - Tuesday (4-12) issue occurred on my way to work so dropped back off on my way home - picked it up again on Thursday (4-14) afternoon - issue occurred on my way to work Friday (4-15), so I dropped back off to dealership Friday (4-14) afternoon.

Finally got my car back on the following Thursday (April 21) after they had it for a week - head service tech drove home two nights. When I picked up I was told they checked connections and it hasn't happened since.

June 18, 2016 - as I'm trying to head out of town (2.5 hours away) the same issue occurs - no climate control which means no air when its 90 degrees out - the windows won't go up or down from the drivers door either. Called service first thing Monday (6-20) morning and was told to bring it in on Thursday (6-23). In the meantime issue occurs again on 6-21.

6-23 - suppose to drop off vehicle as scheduled and I'm told that since the issue isn't happening at that time they won't be looking at it.

So I bought my car with 4 miles on it. And love it. But a year ago (Aug 2014) started having this issue where all the inside electronics would just shut off (Radio, AC, Heat, Windows, Locks, ect) Car itself would run fine but had nothing on the inside. Called for they took it quickly and tried to figure it out, was told I was 1 in 3 cases and the manufacturer told them to clean this mini series of computers and that's what had fixed it in the others. It reset, for a few months, and then started doing it again.

In February I actually had to have it towed to the Ford Dealership because it happened during a wintery mix and I didn't have defrosters to defrost my windshield so I couldn't even drive it. Again Ford took it and had it a total of 8 days (Including a Sat/Sunday in which obviously nothing was done on it) They replaced several wires and such and felt they had fixed it. Surprise Surprise 3 months later does it again.

AGAIN I set up and appointment with Ford and take it there. This time they had it for 3 days and when Ford called me on a Friday to update on it and asked if I needed a car for the weekend and said that I did as I was getting married and called me back a few hours later and said that "They really felt like they figured it out". Well now it has done it again except this time my outside lights have randomly gone on while the key was not in the admission and actually had to disconnect the battery to get inside the car and when I started it I realized that again lost all inside electronics as well same as before. This time called the service manager and he informed me that when they had the car in May that no repairs were made because I needed the car because of getting married, well then why was I told differently.

So now they have it AGAIN for a 4th time I still have no answers and it seems as NO end in sight. Really hoping for any advice on how to handle this or anyone else's experience.

Thanks!

Fusion 1.8L Turbo

Apparently there is a known issue with fuses as the manufacturer has "upgraded" them. So the fuse went out causing the coolant light to come on telling the car it was overheating when it wasn't. There are 3 fuses that are affected with this issue and the biggest problem was that the car SHUT ITSELF DOWN while I was driving in traffic (they say it's to prevent you from damaging the car!) forcing me to pull off the road. I am very lucky to make it off the road safely. Because the car shut down power I was unable to even move it once it stopped and I had to have the vehicle TOWED! So yeah, I am 45 minutes from my home with my 2 sons and 2 puppies in the car (we had been to the vet!) and we are told by the tow company that Ford used (it was covered by the warranty as well) that they can only transport 2 of us and animals are NOT allowed. Advised the dealership and they said "well, we are not sure what to do" - gee thanks Ford. After 2 hours finally was able to have a family member pick us up us and take us home (oh did I mention it was raining?!).

The dealership took 2 days to get us back up and running with new fuses that magically Ford upgraded but didn't bother to replace in the cars already sold. It's been a month now - we will see if it stays fixed.

The first problem was on Labor Day weekend, the power steering went in the car and the driver asst was disabled brought the car to the dealership (which is where I work) and they replaced the power steering rack and then the following weekend got in the car and started it and the dash and navigation screen did not turn on so we had no power windows no a/c no radio the car still ran fine so I brought the car back for service and as the car was sitting in the garage the power steering went again.

The tech was advised by Ford to replace the power steering rack he did not believe that was the problem seeing the power steering was working when the car was driven in to the garage, but replaced it anyway now the car is giving off over 40 trouble codes and four techs have looked at the vehicle and no one can figure out what the problem is the car has been in the shop for two weeks now and still no solution has been found, they consult with the engineers at Ford and no one seems to know what is going on.

As you can image it is very frustrating the car doesn't even have 4000 miles on it yet. I am not happy paying for a car that has been in the shop for half of the month. I seem to be the only person who has had this problem at least that is what Ford is saying. I would love any advice or help thank you
