The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was heavy white smoke coming from the exhaust pipes before the vehicle shut off unintendedly. The contact stated that there was a leak coming from the catalytic converter and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who discovered a blown head gasket due to coolant intrusion into the cylinders. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The contact was provided a case number and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 134,000.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local Auto Zone where it was scanned and the code for the failure of the catalytic convertor was retrieved. Additionally, the contact stated that the catalytic convertor had previously been replaced 3 years earlier. The contact stated that the catalytic convertor was rattling whenever the vehicle was started. The vehicle was taken to the same local dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired because the warranty had expired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 119,000.
