Fusion 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 67,000 miles

We bought this car 1 yr ago this month. It had 52000. It now has 67000. About a month or so ago the little wrench light would come on then go off almost as fast but it never left a code. Then all of a sudden on Friday, 1-4 gear the car would jump, gear down, transmission would slip, once it was in 5th gear it was ok. Took it to our guys that has worked on our vehicles for years and they scanned it, torque converter. Wasn't showing anything else. Then he drove it and it's more than just the converter. He said it was internal. Unfortunately they don't work on transmissions, so they are sending me to their transmission go to guy. Will update as we see where this goes.

Why on earth Ford would use plastic near a hot engine is beyond me!

This Fusion is a piece of crap!! My Fusion left me stranded...AGAIN! The shifter was in Park, when I turned on the engine, it said I was in Neutral when I was clearly in Park. AAA came & rescued me and told me that it was my transmission linkage cable, it had come loose (the cable is basically plastic). How does that happen in a car only 2 years old?
