The first problem I had when I brought this car was one week after purchasing the car the check engine light continued to come on. It took several trips back and forth to the shop to get this matter fixed.
On August 6, 2021 the parking brake light jumped on while I was driving the car. I took it in Saturday to Kendal Ford and they said they ran a diagnostic on this they did not fix what I learned was then the parking brake failure. I was afraid tp drive the car but I had to drive it back to my house anyway.
I parked it for the whole weekend. Monday morning I drove it to Lithia Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Anchorage AK, where I purchased the Ford Fusion from. I was called later that day and quoted a price I would have to pay to get it taken care of. I explained there was a recall on the parking brake assembly on the 2016 Ford Fusion. I was told by the service department that I would have to take the car to a Ford dealership to get it repaired. Again I had to come get the car and drive it home. I called the Ford corporate office which I did not receive any help at all. So that is why I am making this complaint.

On 5 June 2024 I experienced the following Problem:
The car suddenly applied the brakes and dropped into a speed limited mode nearly causing an accident. Brake lights always on.
I Called my local Ford dealer service dept and was told to bring into Quick Lane for reset (disconnect/reconnect battery). Tech verified problem and research found SSM 50328 (Brake pedal switch bumper p/n MR3Z-7583-A).
Sent over to service dept for repairs.
I researched on my own and found Ford Recall reference #22S02 (21C24) March 2022. includes vehicles built in Hemosillo plant from Oct 2013 thru 6 April 2015. my fusion was built there on 2 April 2015 but was not included in the March 2022 recall.
SSM 50328 covers various vehicles built from 2013 to 2021 (Includes 2013-2017 Fusion/MKZ).
I was charged $232.26 to replace p/n MR3Z-7583-A (available at Ford OEM parts online for $2.11).
My local Dealer (BK FPleaseord of Waco, TX) Charged the following: $165.00 to "Verify customer's concern..." $ 82.48 to install MR3Z-7583-A $ 9.78 p/n MR3Z-7583-A $ .73 sales tax on parts $-25.73 "Service Fleet Discount
This was a known defect and should be covered under the recall but I had to pay out-of-pocket even though my vehicle was built in the Hemosillo plant within the specified recall period!
I sent a letter (11 June) to Ford Customer Relations requesting reimbursement of my out-of-pocket expense for repair of this defect. Several weeks later (30 July) I received a written reply denying my request. However, they recommend I hold on to my receipt in case Ford issues a "Customer Satisfaction Program related to my concern."
