Shifter cable link bushing broke. I noticed the problem when I got back into my car, after fueling. The car turned on. But the shifter was really loose and would not shift into drive, or any gear. I searched for the "symptom" online and found there was a recall for the bushing on the shifter link cable issue. I checked the part in my engine compartment and they separated, confirming a break In the link. I happened to be close to an auto parts store so I went and purchased the bushing. After replacing/fixing the issue next to the gas pump, I proceeded to the ford dealership so they could do a proper fix as per the recall. When I arrived at the dealership, they stated my cars VIN# was not part of the recall, which I did not understand why, since the same exact problem for the recall had just happened to my car as the other cars with the same year, model and issue as on the recall. I had the ford dealership fix the problem because I did not want to get into an accident on the road. Since as per the recall the car not being able to shift could cause a real dangerous situation.

I'm just wondering how it is even remotely legal to sell a vehicle, whether used or new, with current open recalls. When I purchased my vehicle through Triple J Auto in Guam, they never informed me of any open recalls when I purchased the vehicle. Technically the car was in a used status, but, coming from the Department of Highway SAFETY, it seems preposterous that you would allow any vehicle to be sold with open recalls against the vehicle. I am just looking for any information as to how this could have gone unresolved for over three years, without me just looking up the VIN on a random day. Thank you

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact received notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V471000 (Power Train) however, the part to do the recall repair was not available. The contact mentioned that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact-??s wife experienced a failure while driving into work when she turned into the parking lot, placed the vehicle in park, released her foot off the brake pedal and the vehicle started to rollaway. The contact engaged the parking brake to stop the vehicle from rolling away. The vehicle was not repaired nor diagnosed. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the recall was not related to the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 122,590.

Plastic bushing broke off transmission linkage. This cause the car to be unable to change gears. Luckily for us it happened when we parked the car, therefore it was stuck in park and had to be towed to the dealership. If it happened while driving, might have been more dangerous. There is a recall for this, but only for 2.5l engines for some reason. I have the 1.5l engine.

Gear shift was placed in park. Car stayed in reverse, reverse showing on dash as well. Could not fully turn car off. Red shift lever under the console did nothing. The bushing/ball is completely missing from the shift linkage. Has not been inspected by "authorized" repair center. Husband was able to see the problem and manually shift it into drive to get it home. Ford has informed me this vehicle does not have the same problems as the others recalled, yet it IS the exact same issue.

129K miles. Transmission slipping out of gear at 70 +/- mph. Pulled into gas station, allowed to cool for 1hr. Transmission would engage momentarily, then slip out of gear and not go into gear again without shutting down vehicle, restart, shift to D, repeat. Seems to hold at low speed so long as there is a constant load on the transmission. Unsafe to replicate at speed. Vehicle not listed in recall 18S32 for evap purge valve, but showed similar symptoms starting around 126K miles. Vehicle scheduled for service for purge valve prior to transmission issue. Maintenace not completed yet.

I drove slowly up to an atm machine in a heavily trafficked parking lot, put the vehicle in park and took my foot off of the brake to begin a banking transaction, the vehicle began to roll backwards, the instrument panels was reading "reverse", the physical shifter was in park but the vehicle was rolling as though in neutral. I hit the brake which engaged eventually but it was difficult to apply. The shifter was locked in position and could not be moved. I let the vehicle coast to a close by parking spot and then applied the emergency brake, which worked fine. I attempted to shift the car from neutral to park so I could shut the vehicle off but I could not. Eventually, the vehicle battery died from auxilliary power being on so long without any way to turn the vehicle off. It was towed to the nearest dealership. There is a known recall for the same year, make and model of this vehicle for this particular issue, 18V471, but my particular VIN is not included somehow.

Car does not move in selected gear. First incident: The car was put into drive but the car moved in reverse. It was taken to a Ford dealership for recall 19S16 which describes exactly these symptoms. Shortly after the recall service, the second incident: Car was put into park but moved in reverse and hit another car. It was returned to the Ford dealership again and they reported back that nothing was wrong with the car. The recall procedure clearly did not resolve the issue. And to make matters worse the dealership Suburban Ford of waterford mi is charging me for the diagnostic.

I was pulling out across two lanes of traffic on a flat city street going approximately 15 mph, and as I was holding the wheel, maintaining my drive line, the steering dropped out and I was rotating the wheel left and right desperate for the steering wheel to grab control again. It finally regained some control but the steering is not consistent, it doesnt seem like, its in constant control of the vehicle, almost like its shorting out.

The transmission upshifts very hard. So hard it throws driver and passenger(s) backwards.this is most pronounced at speeds less than 30 mph when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd. Periodically, it also shifts very hard from 5th to 6th at constant speeds between 45 and 55. This presents a safety concern as it is hard and abrupt causing a startling scare and a reaction that can cause a momentary loss of steering control.

The bushing that attaches the transmission shifter cable to the transmission degrade and cause the bushing to detach from the transmission. It let me move the shift lever to park and remove the ignition key, while the transmission may not be in park, with no warning message or audible chime. I almost could not stop the car and ran into a building. There is already a known recall for this vehicle but my VIN is not included.

Car has 60K miles. Losing coolant no leak. Didn't start one day. Firestone couldn't find the problem. Had my car towed to baytown Ford. After a week and a $800 authorization to open the engine only. Next day I was told I need a new engine. $6K. My question was what caused the engine failure, and how can I be sure the new engine wont have the same problem. My oil changes are regular. Mobil 1 oil and filter. I was told the sludge in my engine was because I had a aftermarket oil filter not a motorcraft filter. Not in writing. I knew better and after some research I found a plethora if other owners has had the exact same problem. My car is my key to providing for my family and I dont have $6K for a manufacturer defect. Car has also cut off while my wife was driving but cranked immediately.
