  • 32,390 miles
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. While the contact was exiting a parking lot, the vehicle suddenly slowed down and shut off. The vehicle was able to be restarted and was driven home. The contact planned on taking the vehicle to matthews Ford (175 E main St, norwich, NY 13815, (607) 334-3273) on October 27, 2018 for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer offered to tow the vehicle to the dealer, but did not offer to pay for a rental. The failure mileage was 32,390.

After pumping gas my vehicle would not start. After waiting and trying for 10 minutes the vehicle started. About two weeks later while driving a loud noise was coming from the left side of my vehicle after pulling over I realized it was coming from my gas tank took it back to the dealership they said that they have never heard that before but they knew how to stop the noise. While driving and at a stop light my vehicle just shut off with no vehicles behind me, II put it in neutral and it went in reverse and I was able to pull my vehicle closer to the curb. Couple days later my check engine light came on and the code was for a canister purge valve. I see Ford had a recall in 2015 for the same problem with the previous models. This is a safety concern and I am very disappointed because I just purchased my vehicle on March 31, 2016 and the dealership I purchased it from was not helpful and Ford did nothing.

On Monday October 1,2018 at 8 am I drove my kids to school, went to the grocery store, and gas station. My car drove fine. By 11:00 am I'm leaving home heading to work and while in my neighborhood driving 25 mph my car lost acceleration, began to jerk, shake really bad, and shut off. I turned it back on. It shook again and shut off. I managed to turn the car back on and slow roll into a parking space. I waited 5 mins started the car and slowly drove it back home. When pulling into my space. The car lost acceleration and the brake pedal would not press down. I could not brake!!!! the car shut off. While having it inspected, I started it and now white smoke comes out of the tailpipe. I drive the turnpike at 80 mph to get to work. This is a serious safety issue. The car wouldn't accelerate and I couldn't brake. I could have lost my life. What if I had my kids with me and we got in a bad accident because of this"?" this is a serious issue. I just bought this car on April 7, 2018. I've only had it 6 months and had the maintenance done on it in June. I just now need an oil change. I only have 66,611 miles on it. I bought the car at 49,000 miles.

Vehicle was in motion, 12 mph. Husband made a left turn from almost a stopping position. He proceeded about one foot and the engine stopped after it sputtered extremely and made a loud noise. There was absolutely no response when he hit the gas pedal. The car would not move. It was extremely dangerous as it happened in the middle of traffic. The check engine light illuminated with a wrench and message to check the manual. I took the car to jerry's Ford alexandria and they said the throttle body had to be replaced and the computer reprogrammed. Cost was $610. They discounted the price to $510 and threw in a free oil change and detailing which was awesome. I have read online that this has happened to other 2016 Ford Fusion and wondered why Ford has not issued a recall for this dangerous issue or at least inform owners to beware.. car has about 46,800 miles on it as I bought it June 2015.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. Within a short period of time of owning the vehicle, the contact stated that it went into a transportation mode while driving that led to a drastic reduction in speed. The vehicle was towed to the following dealers: Lasco Ford (2525 owen rd, fenton, mi 48430, (888) 486-1708) and royal oak Ford (27550 woodward ave, royal oak, mi 48067, (248) 548-4100). One of the dealers diagnosed that the steering and parking brake failed. A loaner vehicle was provided for a short period of time, but the failures were not corrected for the contact to drive her vehicle. Lasco Ford replaced the throttle body, motor assembly, and a gasket; however, the failure continued. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 1.

Engine loses engine power when driving. Pressing the accelerator pedal does nothing. Must coast or brake until the car stops. Power steering, braking, and climate control systems remain functional; radio remains on; turn signals did not work. 'trans not in park' message appears on the display. Event has occurred three times when driving at highway speeds. Cruise control was on and set during at least two times out of the three events. Car may be restarted after coming to a stop, shifting into park and turning key to off. Appears to 'reset' to work correctly until the next unexpected event occurs. Check engine light does not come on. Chime occurs after the loss of engine power. The car does not shake during or before event. Have not experienced any harsh or delayed shifting when starting from stop or after slowing and trying to accelerate. Three identical instances have occurred since driving this car. In one of the three instances, the key was bumped with a knee. Present milage is about 48000. Car was obtained in 12/2016. Local Ford dealer states that there are no recalls or services outstanding for this vehicle; did not know of any reported problems like this. On May 15, 2018 wes myers at bob sight Ford in lee's summit, Missouri checked two other Fusion and noted that this same problem will occur if the key is barely rotated back - not so much as to think it should turn off the engine. As such, he did not find anything 'wrong' since other vehicles exhibit the same problem; replacing the ignition switch with another that has the same problem would not provide a fix. Also stated that unless the car was still under the bumper to bumper warranty, that Ford would not take any action. The vehicle leasing company (enterprise) has not issued any notices stating this is a known issue with the vehicle. NHTSA 9/19/2016, blacklick, oh, is similar issue.

While driving at a steady 45 mph on a city street my Ford Fusion lost engine power. The tachometer dropped to less than 500rpm, the check engine warning light and the have dealer service vehicle light came on. Pumping the gas pedal did not have any effect on rpms. I was able to coast to a safe area. I turned off the engine and when I restarted the engine it was still idling under 500rpm and the gas pedal had no effect on engine speed. After the 3rd restart, I could get enough engine speed to return to my hotel but it ran very rough with the check engine light on. I took the car to a carmax dealer in henderson, nv. I purchased it from a different dealer in roseville, ca. They sent it to a Ford dealer in henderson. The dealer replace the throttle body - attaching the repair invoice. I have noticed that this seems to be a common complaint online and that Ford somehow stopped North Carolina from forcing them to issue a recall for this. If this had happened on the freeway in heavy traffic, there would have been one heck of an accident as the car rapidly slowed down without warning.

About 2 months after I purchased my 2016 Ford Fusion, the check engine light came on. But a couple days later, it went away. Now after the car sits over night and I awake in the morning to go to work, the car cuts off in the middle of traffic. It just goes completely dead. Its a good thing I havent been on the highway when that happens. The loses all power and acceleration. I then have to turn the switch off and wait a few minutes before I can then accelerate again. It has happened every morning for the past month.

Car slows down, jerk, shake & light comes on with a picture of a wrench while you are driving on the freeway or on the road fearful of causing an accident. This has happened several times in one day. The car has been parked in the driveway & now the recalls have been looked to discover a total of 3 recalls on the Ford Fusion.the Ford service department indicates from your description this sounds like a throttle body issue which is a known problem.

Was driving down he highway at approximately 70 mph when the car just started decelerating on its own down to 30 mph. The "check manual" indicator came on, along with a picture of the engine and a wrench. I was able to get the car to the side of the road. I shut the car off for a few minutes, and then turned it back on. This time the warning light came on immediately. I couldn't even move 30 feet. Had to be towed from the side of a busy highway.

Driving 25 mph down side street, when car lost power and almost stalled. Engine check light and wrench light went on, and engine cut out. Restarted car and was able to pull off of road. Waited a few minutes and car restarted, luckily was only 1/2 mile from home. Car dies again in driveway. Called Ford to have them pick it up, which they did. Service thought it was throttle body. Picked up car next day and it was throttle body, which they replaced. Ford service knew of problem, but I had received no notification of problem. This is a major safety problem. I am luck I wasn't going 70 on freeway.

While driving today, I suddenly lost the ability to accelerate. The vehicle began to vibrate abnormally, and then the power went out. I began to smell smoke, and I almost hit the vehicle in front of me because I couldn't control my car! once I finally came to a stop, I was able to restart it and pull over to a safer area-- but the smoke remained. I believe the throttle body is malfunctioning, which is unacceptable on an almost-new car.

The etb (electronic throttle body) has failed twice. Once causing complete mechanical failure, the other causing the vehicle to go into limp home mode. I've read thousands of similar reports about 2013-2016 Fusion doing the same thing. This hasn't costed me any money but it's extremely dangerous, for the car wont move over 8 mph suddenly.
