Fusion

  • 70,000 miles
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. While depressing the brake pedal and driving up a hill, the pedal depressed to the floorboard and the vehicle failed to operate without warning. When the brake pedal failed to operate, the vehicle began to roll backwards. The contact took the vehicle to rio vista Ford (1010 ca-12, rio vista, ca 94571, (707) 374-6411) where they agreed that the brakes were faulty. The dealer replaced the brakes under warranty. While driving 40 mph and approaching traffic, the brakes failed again without warning. As a result, the contact clipped the preceding vehicle. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The contact's vehicle sustained front end damage. The contact had to pay a $1,000 deductible to the auto body shop to repair the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle back to the same dealer, but was offered no assistance. The dealer stated that the vehicle was meant to operate in that manner. The vehicle was taken to big valley Ford (highway M-28, ewen, mi 49925, 906-988-2323) where they were initially unable to diagnose the vehicle. The contact then took a mechanic to test drive the vehicle and the failure recurred. The vehicle was diagnosed with a computerized braking module defect and was not repaired. The failure mileage was 70,000. The VIN was unknown.

I took my vehicle to mullinax Ford of olympia for a squeak during suspension jounce. They traced the problem to a brake line rubbing on the sway bar. They allegedly fixed the issue. On March 5, 2019, I experienced a complete hydraulic failure of the vehicle's brake system. The vehicle was towed to skyline Ford in salem, or for repairs and they found a brake line failure due to rubbing the vehicle's sway bar. I believe there is the potential for this to be a widespread issue and am requesting a full investigation due to the volume of Ford Fusion vehicles on the road and the severity of a brake hydraulic failure. The issue may be confined to "sport" models which may have a larger front sway bar than other Fusion models. My vehicle has over 50,000 miles which is abnormally high for a 2017 model year vehicle. As other vehicles of this type acquire the mileage my vehicle has, more may be subject to this type of failure. The sport model was not produced before 2017

Was driving in a parking lot, between 5-10 mph when the car clicked loudly. I lost steering and brakes, and came to a sudden stop. The engine had turned off, the car had put itself into park, and the instrument panel went back as if I had opened the door with the car shut off.
