A bushing attaching the shift cable to the transmission is plastic and failed preventing the shifter from moving into Drive or Reverse. This is a known Ford recall for the "shifter cable bushing" on almost 3 million Ford Fusions, but dealership stated that my Ford Fusion does not fall into the recall. Dealer charged $588.99 to repair a known Ford defective part that cost $3.68.

As I was driving my check engine light came on and my car started to jerk. I had some previous issues with my AC and radio delays. I took the car to the dealer and he said my PCM was missing a ground and if I continued to drive it the engine could catch fire. The car is only 5 years old. He says they have seen this a lot in these cars.

While shifting from reverse to drive, car shifted back to park and activated parking brake. Unable to move car forward and needed to be towed to dealership for repair. The 2013-16 Ford Fusions are included in recall on bushing failure, however, my 2017 Fusion is not included. However, clearly this is an issue with millions of Ford vehicles and recall should be expanded. Shift system fault notification appeared after this incident. Ford of Murfreesboro inspected the vehicle and repaired the failed bushing at the transmission selector.

Turned off 2017 Ford Fusion SE 1.5l and received a msg: shift says fault - service soon. Car kept telling me it was not in park even though it did turn off. Placed wheel blocks behind the wheels because it was "parked" at an angle. I can't understand how the 2017 is excluded from the previous years recalls for the shift bushing issue. After checking the bushing, the car did start but will not shift.

My 2017 Ford Fusion started have problems with shifting from different gears. After a week of small shifting issues, it would not shift into second gear. Launched into second gear from first very fast. Then it wouldn-??t shift at all for awhile, then slowly worked between gears. Ford said it is the Torque converter and isn-??t covered by recall. Sounds very close and fishy to me. It was made at the Hermosillo Ford plant and less than a month past the recall for this same issue out of this plant for this year make and model. Ford said there is nothing they can do. New transmission is 12 weeks out due to part shortage.

As I put the car in reverse it shifted really hard and then a warning light came on and told me to check the manual. Upon checking the manual I found it-??s the Powertrain Indicator. The car is still driveable but skips and shutters when picking up speed to shift gears. It also hesitates like it wants to stop. I almost stalled out in the middle of the road multiple times while trying to make it back home. The manufacturer was contacted and I was told my particular vehicle was not under the recall. They offered no further assistance.

Transmission failure while driving causing a safety issue for myself and others while immobilized in traffic. While stopped at a red light on a highway, my car failed to move forward when pressing the gas. There were no warning lights. Eventually after several tries the car lurched forward. A warning light finally came on when I reached my destination a mile away. The car was taken to a dealer who diagnosed transmission failure. The car has 63K miles on it and now requires a 5K repair to the transmission. The vehicle is still not repaired due to parts shortages.
