We bought the car from a dealer in Northern Illinois on a Friday afternoon. Next morning go to start the car and the check engine light was on and had an engine miss. I thought at 65,000 miles could be a coil pack or spark plug. Didn't worry about it too much as it cleared itself up. Same thing next day etc. When we bought the car we pulled the carfax. It showed a new engine was installed the week before. WRONG!!! Called the dealer that had reported the engine replacement and was reported incorrectly. GREAT... So I called the selling dealer and of course we are 6 hours from them heading back to Williston North Dakota.
Dealer tells me to get home and get it in. So I did. Found out it was intrusion in ALL 4 CYLINDERS. New engine time. So per Ford's TSB the engine was replaced. In defense of the selling dealer, the shop did a s**y job running it through their shop. In the carfax report it looked like the previous owner declined the repair, drove to a tire dealer and had 4 new tires installed and drove it to the dealer over an hour away and traded it in. Did the selling dealer do me right??? Well between them and the warranty company, and me being a ginormaous pain in their asses, we finally were approved for a new engine and not a used engine. Note to buyers.... Carfax isn't always reliable as we found out. We do love the car though.
