Went to Ford for The Works oil change, and after watching the Ford "technician" hammer the lug wrench on and off my vehicle, I was concerned. I watched the same tech do the same for another vehicle. After the car was returned to me, I wanted to make sure the lugs were secure, so I tested them with my hands and found two of them that I could move. I brought the car back to the center and was told that was NORMAL.

I have since looked up the problem online and found that Ford uses a lug nut that is prone to swelling. Ford claims that the problem is the result of using power tools on the lug nuts, yet the Ford service center uses power tools on the lug nuts. I have only had the vehicle serviced at Ford, except for buying new tires at Costco about a month ago. I watched Costco replace the tires and they do not use power tools, and the final torque is applied by a manual torque wrench.

It seems that Ford does not follow it's own service recommendations, and puts the blame for a bad design on the customer!
