My car suddenly slowed down on the interstate which could have been very dangerous with a lot of fast moving traffic and semis. Fortunately there was an exit nearby that I could get off onto, but if that had not been the case, I would have had to stop on the shoulder which is very dangerous on an interstate. I don't know why there is no recall on this since I have seen other complaints of this online. I hope a class action suit takes place like there recently was for Ford Fiesta transmission issue.

Driving home from work on a highway doing the speed limit of 65 mph when all of a sudden my car lost all acceleration and slowed down to approx. 34-30 mph. A large orange wrench icon appeared on my dashboard. Luckily I was able to get to the shoulder and turn off my car. After waiting a few minutes I restarted the car and everything appeared to be better. I was hesitant to drive the car too fast for fear it would happen again, so I got it home safely and called the dealer. They had me bring it in first thing the next morning. While checking in an explaining my problem, the tech at the dealer said "oh, it's probably the ETB. we get a lot of issues on that". Fast forward a few hours and it was confirmed that the "ETB just went bad" and a $400 replacement part would fix the issue. I called ford customer support since the dealer said this was a common issue and that an extended warrenty was offered, but not for hybrid. When I called ford, I got what had to be the rudest customer service rep ever. He flat out told me "the highway safety board did extensive tests on this problem and found it not to be an issue on the hybrid version." When I told him I literally JUST experienced this issue on the hybrid he basically just repeated the same line and said it was a "none critical issue that they were not responsible to fix". So now I'm out $400 for a known issue with my car. Someone really dropped the ball on this. Hopefully no one ends up getting killed or injured as a result of this "none cirtical issue".

While driving on the interstate at 70 mph car suddenly decelerated and would not respond to attempts to go faster. Wrench lights came on. Very scary as cars behind almost rear ended me! Brought it to dealer and $150 later and reprogramming of some software they thought they had fixed problem. Wrong! 5 miles from dealer same thing happened. Brought it back and waiting to see what happens. Someone is going to get killed with this one! you are totally at the mercy of the driver behind you braking in time; difficult for them as you are going slow but not applying your brakes!!

Ford Hybrid would not accelerate. It did not go above 30 MPH in heavy traffic. I was lucky a Ford dealer was nearby. It was dangerous crossing a major intersection. Service department said it was the electronic throttle body. NHTSA is aware of this problem but allowed Ford to limit their recall to a limited customer satisfaction program. The Extended Throttle Body may not present itself for many miles.

My car is beyond warranty and I called Ford when I searched for consumer complaints and saw the volume of problems. Ford said I was not covered in their limited program because my car was made at a plant where they claim no problems. I asked if the part was made at the plant. Ford CS declined to assist me. I was responsible for the cost of repair. The money is not important. My wife was driving and she was put in a precarious position on the highway. This seems to be the response of automakers. I suffered through the 2007 Toyota Camry lies and bought this Ford. In the minds of automakers, I suppose they would say it is just my bad luck. Toyota lied, Ford evaded. Add Ford to my list (Toyota - Ford) of cars I will never purchase again.
