problem #4

Fusion Hybrid Platinum

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,581 miles

While driving the car will turn off. Very dangerous situation. Will restart after stopping, but on an expressway cannot just stop. Had the same problem 2 years ago while driving out of state. Was fixed under warranty. Not no longer covered and have to pay out of pocket.

Fusion Hybrid S 2.0L

  • CVT transmission
  • 580 miles

When the outside temperature is low (perhaps 10 deg F and lower) after 5 or ten minutes the display shows "Hill Start Assist no longer available". Then the Wrench sign appears, then the display says "Pull over safely and turn off the engine" and within a few seconds it no longer runs.

This happened twice on 12/11/2013 when the ambient was zero degrees. I took it to the dealer who had it for 3 days but Ford could not resolve the issue so they cleared the memory and I took it back. I did not drive the car much except in warmer temps as I can not trust it. Sure enough this morning I drove it when it was minus 9 deg F ambient and it quit three times with exactly the same messages. The first time was at an intersection, the engine would not run so I had to push the car out of the intersection. The dealer has it back this morning.

Seems like the car won't run in Wisconsin winters.
