I purchased the Fusion mostly due to the fact that they claimed 47/47 mpg plus American and I knew for certain that the Prius did get 50 mpg as I've rented them. I didn't research enough as it was built in Hermosillo, Mexico and that is my own fault. Originally for the first 10000+ miles I was getting short of 40 or 40 mpg. I just took a 3600 mile trip and most of the time the mileage was closer to 26-31 mpg at 70-80 mph.

That is even 25% less than Ford now claims should have been the mileage of 44/41 mpg. I can understand a couple of miles difference but now with 17000 miles the hybrid is no better than my Corvette in mileage for all practical purposes. I keep saying that I need to buy American to help our economy but this has been a thorn in my side every time.

I hadn’t purchased a Ford in 12 years and thought that I would give them a chance again but I believe that if anyone is looking for a hybrid that they should think about the Toyota…. Any model.

I purchased my 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid Luxury Edition in the the fall of 2013. Today, June 13, 2014, I was informed via the news that my car is being recalled because of its MPG. It originally stated 47CITY/HWY. However, I am now informed it is 44/41 and Ford is only going to reimburse compensation based on how many miles have been driven as opposed to the amount of miles a consumer will put on it during the average duration a consumer expects to keep the vehicle. In my case, my wife and I purchased this vehicle based on the stated "47MPG" with the expectation of keeping it for at least 5 years. Ford NEEDS to not only reimburse the difference of miles driven but also the depreciation of the vehicle.

I know for a fact I paid thousands of dollars extra because I was paying for "47MPG", not "44/41". I should be (1) reimbursed based on the average of 5 years, (2) receive complimentary oil changes for the next 5 years, or (3) receive 4 FREE tires when it is time to change tires as well as free oil changes for 3 years. I travel ALL the time everywhere on the East Coast and I purchased this vehicle because of its stated MPG. At this point, it does not meet my required minimum 45MPG. My wife had planned on purchasing a 2014 Ford Escape Hybrid this fall and unless this issue is resolved in a manner that suits my position, we will not be purchasing from Ford again. We have been loyal Ford customers (Taurus, Tempo, Fusion, and Escape) for many years and have always either paid cash or written a check.

Like I said, if Ford does not solve this issue and find a way to compensate for the difference in what I paid when I originally purchased the vehicle, including the amount of time I plan to keep the car, then we will no longer buy from Ford. It really is unfortunate they have only agreed to compensate based on the current amount of miles driven because Ford (to us) really is the only brand we will buy. I guess only time/ compensation will determine if we remain loyal Ford customers.
