vehicle suddenly lost power while travelling at freeway speeds, and decelerated to 35 mph with no speed control. All electrical systems showed warning lights, and I was suddenly driving 30 mph under traffic speeds at a freeway interchange with no escape lanes or emergency lanes for half a mile. I am a paramedic with extensive EVOC training, and I can say with my extensive experience that this was a near-fatal situation, only avoided by the attentive drivers around me, and I almost created chain collisions attempting to maneuver to the side until there was a breakdown lane accessible. Vehicle had all electrical systems in warning, and vehicle automatically set the parking break before I put it in park. I attempted to restart the vehicle several times with no success. The vehicle entered a battery mode which did not allow use of the accelerator pedal, and automatically drove the care at 30-35 mph with only breaking control to control speed. I was able to limp the vehicle off the freeway in the breakdown lane, and move it to a safe location. This event was an extreme hazard to myself and all around me, and I compliment the semi driver behind me on his quick response to the sudden deceleration of my vehicle. Note I own 2 of these vehicles, a 2022 and a 2023, and both have experienced this issue.

I was driving for about 10 minutes at speed 35 mph then noticed the car is in electric mode but unable to accelerate. It feels nothing happened when I depressed the gas pedal. The car came to a complete stop at traffic light but failed to accelerate when I pressed on the gas pedal. I turned off the car and started it back up and everything return to normal.

While driving the vehical at 70 mph it suddenly lost power and all of the warning lights on the dash started to light up, was able to pull over to the side of the road safely. Turned the car off and opened up the door, closed the door and started it back up and the instrument cluster continued to throw signals. Had it towed to the dealership and am awaiting a response.

Loss power, gear selector "D" flashing. Dashboard has check engine light on, displays "service AdvanceTrac and Hill start assist not available. Could have got into an accident if not for fact I was just leaving a light, going maybe 35 MPH. After stopping, I let my foot of the break and it was accelerating on it's own. I pulled over again and now it's just a check engine light. I've had this vehicle in 5 times for recalls, waiting on the sixth one. Ford actually told me it was a lemon but I've kept it as a new car to replace it was too expensive. This one is almost paid off.

The component in question is the powertrain control module for my Maverick. After having the relevant powertrain recall reprogramming done (23E09), I was driving down the highway when I received a rapid series of warnings from my car including "Pre-Collision Assist Not Available", "Service Engine Soon", and "Service AdvanceTrac" [sic]. I lost all engine power at that point, and was steadily decelerating with no response from the accelerator. There was no advance warning or messages. There was an imminent threat to my safety at that time. The loss of all power rendered the car unsafe to continue driving on the highway, and prevented me from leaving the highway in a safe manner. I was able to pull off the highway at a fortunately nearby exit ramp, however, I was unable to accelerate and was only able to coast to the nearest safe parking space. I subsequently turned my car off and on again, I found that when in drive the car would accelerate by itself to no more than 35 miles per hour, and was unresponsive to the accelerator pedal-it would only slow down if the brake was applied. Upon arriving at my original departure point, I then turned my car off and attempted a BMS reset unsuccessfully. The next day (<12 Hours since the initial failure), my car was functioning properly again but was soon seen by a dealership for service. I was informed by the service representative that this is a repeated issue brought to their attention for this make & model, with a consistent trend of these issues occurring after the powertrain control module was reprogrammed as part of an update. The powertrain module was again reprogrammed/flashed, and the issue has not repeated since the initial failure, though it is available for inspection.

Vehicle was in cruise control driving along the highway at-speed when the engine suddenly cut out and cruise control stopped maintaining speed. Pressing the accelerator did nothing, but the brakes still worked. After turning cruise control off the accelerator was still having no effect, and the vehicle did not let me re-engage cruise control. All other electronics (navigation, music, dash, hazard lights, etc.) continued to work fine, but I noticed that the light on the gear selector was blinking instead of the normal solid yellow. I pulled over onto the shoulder and came to a stop, at which point the vehicle put itself into park and engaged the parking brake. Several warning and advisory messages appeared on the screen advising me not to drive the vehicle, and almost all of the warning lights on the dash lit up. The electronics continued functioning for a time, but after a short while (less than 2 hours) they died as well. This included the locks, mileage indicator, windows, hazard lights, and gear shift-?"the vehicle could not be put into neutral. The vehicle was loaded onto a flatbed tow truck and taken to a dealership. Service invoice is attached. To summarize, it appears that a failure in the heat exchanger caused engine to cut out. Cause of electrical failure after stopping is unknown.

Recently got a couple recalls done and then yesterday while I was driving back home I Ford chimes twice and then see a plethora of service lights and dash warnings. Completely lost power on the freeway pulled over from originally being in the left lane in time. But could of been a lot worse if I wasn't coming back at 11pm. Restarted the truck and it let me go a max of 20mph all the way home (luckily I was near my exit) flooring it the entire time. Then after an hour of sitting at home I started it up again to surprisingly what felt like full power again but with a check engine light.

When coming to a stop on a 25 mph road, saw a cascade of warnings come up, including: Hill start assist not available, precollision assist not available, service AdvanceTrac, service vehicle soon, check engine light, service light, traction control light. Once stopped the car turned the parking brake on and requested that I put it into park. After putting the car into park and turning off the parking brake the car began to accerate on it's own, unresponsive to how hard I pressed the accelerator (limp mode?). I was able to get the car back home on residential roads.

While driving at cruising speed on freeway/interstate, experienced sudden and unexpected loss of power and multiple error codes, including "gear selected will engage at low speed" and "service advancetrac", together with flashing service engine soon light. This occurred approximately 3 weeks after completing service recalls for power train control module (23E09) and turn signal outage detection failure and instrument panel cluster IPC Illumination

Was driving on the freeway and a ton of warnings suddenly appeared on the dash. Pre-collision assist not available, stop driving now, service engine soon, powertrain malfunction, etc. The truck would not accelerate when the gas pedal was pressed and slowly slowed down. The truck would auto-accelerate (without gas pedal input) to about 20 mph unless the brake was applied (limp-mode). I pulled over, disconnected the 12V battery and reconnected which seemed to fix the problem. The dealership could not figure out the issue. I believe that the 12V battery was somehow drained to a point where it fed a low-voltage to suite of safety sensors which all went haywire.

Car stopped moving although still on, then had many flashing warnings. the "D" on the drive knob was flashing. Turned the car off and on a few times and eventually gor it moving then it tried to engage in its own determined speed! I only had a mile to get home so made it home with out it stopping again. The errors codes ( Vehicle alert) showing on my "Ford" app are: 1.precollison assist not available 2.Powertrain malfunction/reduded power 3.service engine soon(the engine has detected a fault) there were others while this was first happening but i was overwhelmed with fear and don't remember The car is at the local Ford Dealer and they have yet to find the problem I see on some online sites others having this same issue - it appears that it after a recall which i have had a few fixed This is so terrifying and if I had been going 75 on the frwy I was headed to it could have been deadly...

After driving about 500 ft, check engine light appeared, propulsion stopped immediately and I was only able to pull off road with momentum. Fortunately, I was at a driveway. Otherwise, I would have been required to park in the road (due to steep shoulders) on a two lane road. If I had been followed closely by a heavy vehicle, it probably would have rear-ended me since the propulsion quit so abruptly. After I turned truck off and restarted, it had enough propulsion to return 500 ft home at about 10 mph. -Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. No inspections performed other than dealer for repair/reset. -Dealer reset was done and no further problems noted. No replacement parts needed. Dealer said they had one other Maverick with this problem.

Vehicle suddenly stopped accelerating while l was driving at 70 mph on a freeway and would not accelerate beyond 35 mph. Multiple warnings started flashing on dashboard - Powertrain malfunction / Reduced Power, Service engine soon, Pre-collision assist not available. I stopped on the shoulder, switched off engine, waited for 5 minutes and restarted engine then all warnings were gone and l was able to drive fine. But this was very scary experience as it was very dangerous to suddenly slow down from 70 mph to 35 mph in middle of fast traffic, l was lucky that there was no accident. Just few days before this incident, l had got few recalls repaired at Ford dealership that included updates to Power Control Module software.

Vehicle had a sudden loss of power at ~40mph and began rapidly decelerating. Had there been a car behind me, the sudden deceleration could have caused a collision. Warning lamps and messages displayed on the instrument cluster instantly. I pulled the OBD codes and received U1011 and U1028 as active codes. These codes indicate a PCM software issue. It is important to note that this issue occurred after a PCM software update was performed as part of a recall. I power cycled the vehicle, cleared the DTC codes, and after multiple attempts, the vehicle worked normally again and I was able to drive it home. I have been unable to recreate the problem after clearing the codes. Prior to this incident, I have not had any problems from the vehicle. I suspect the the PCM software recall is what caused the problem.

After having recalls worked on, my truck became completely inoperable. The first failure warning was a message that said "Gear will engage at low speed." I lost the ability to control acceleration. I then got messages for "Powertrain malfunction" "Pre-collision assist not available" "Hill start assist not available" "Service AdvanceTrak" "Service vehicle soon" "Check Engine." Came to a stop. Truck then began accelerating on its own. Being unable to control the acceleration of my vehicle was scary and dangerous. The auto-acceleration was very unsettling, causing me to jerk back and forth by applying the brake to limp home. If this had happened on the highway, it would have been very bad news. This issue occurred twice. The first time the dealer released it and said it was fixed. The second time they released it without doing anything. The vehicle has been inspected by Ford Mechanics exclusively. No prior warnings occurred. The problem appeared seemingly out of nowhere. The truck drove perfectly for 49,000 miles. The day after the recalls were performed, it was inoperable. A week after getting it back, the failure happened again, this time stranding me in another city.

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Maverick. The contact stated while her husband was driving 60 MPH and entering the interstate highway, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to accelerate. The vehicle instead decelerated to 40 MPH. The contact stated that the driver safely exited the roadway. The driver was able to park on the side of the road. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer, but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle continued to experience the failure. The contact took the vehicle back to the local dealer, but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.

Accelerated to merge onto highway. Vehicle alerted to pull over safely when possible. Internal combustion engine shut off and vehicle "limped" in electric only mode until I could find a spot to park. This all happened while traveling at 70MPH on a busy freeway. Once I shut the vehicle off, I was able to start it again and travel to my nearest dealer. Dealer was unable to diagnose the issue but advised it was safe to drive home to our local dealer. Truck is currently at local dealer being diagnosed. One CEL of note was P0811 (clutch slippage). This truck is nearly brand new with fewer than 12,000 miles on the odometer. I have had similar Check Engine Lights with similar results of not being able to diagnose. However, this incident of power loss at highway speeds with my wife and 3 children in the vehicle was unacceptable.
