Both cylinder heads removed by mechanic to replace gasket and found #3 cylinder to be blown. This should not happen under normal driving conditions at 70,000 miles - it is obviuosly a detect in design or manufacturing. I understand there is a Ford recall, but the 1995 Mustang is excluded!

1995 Ford Mustang-3.8liter blown head gasket- contacted Ford-said not their problem. Contacted kron.com and Ford announced recalls on 700,000 vehicles for 1994 and 1995 with 3.8 liter engines. Only listed limited sales cars/vans-Windstar, Taurus. My problem is I have the same engine with the same problem, but Ford denies including the Mustang. Is the reason because they sold too many Mustangs and it would cost Ford too much for the repairs?. the head gaskets are factory, and Ford uses their own product on all 3.8 liter engines. The dealership, lithia Ford in Napa, diagnosed the problem and knew about the problem and said nothing about the recall. Please contact me or leave message 707-966-2605 or 707-315-5930.

Head gasket failure, timing cover gasket needs repair as well as 02 sensors due to engine leaking coolant, needs new water pump. Ford says this could not have been prevented because "the head gaskets simply wear out over time." No satisfaction from Ford national or local dealerships. Repair costs estimated at approx $3,000 from local Ford dealership.

While driving on street, traveling 10mph, noticed it was not blowing hot air, and the thermostat was running hot. All of a sudden a white cloud of smoke came out of the tail pipe. Pulled over, and had the vehicle towed to a repair shop. Was told that it had a blown head gasket.

Many Mustang owners are experienceing the same overhead gasket problems that the Windstar and Taurus were just given an exstended service plan for. I have contacted Ford and they refused to assist me with this problem. It is to my knowledge the same engine that is used in the Windstar (3.8L V6) so I am questioning the fact the Mustang was left out of the esp.

I took my Mustang to the dealership because my heater went out. After having the car several days I was told my head gasket blew, causing $1600 worth of damage. There were no warning signs prior to the failure such as a "engine check" light or fluid leakage. Until I confronted the dealer that I was told the 3.8L engine was having problems they acted as though they knew nothing of a problem. Then I was told the recall was only on that engine with front wheel drive vehicles, not rear wheel drive such as my Mustang. I don't understand what difference that would make. If I should be lodging a complaint elsewhere then please let me know. Thank you.

I was driving along at 45 mph and the car started to shudder and shake. After a little while, the check engine light came on. I never registered a high engine temperature display. I took it in to the shop, and they topld me I blew 2 head gaskets, and Ford is notorious for this. I want my money back, it cost over $1000 to fix the bloody thing.

Noticed Mustang overheated on a Sunday night. Took to mechanic next morning. Called to tell me it was a leaking head gasket. Told there was possible coverage. Called dealership and was told only the Taurus, winstar and Sable were covered. I was also told the Mustang's had a completely different engine and were not having the same problem as the other 3.8 V-6.
