Mustang CV

The car has been garaged this entire time. Unfortunately, I am not able to keep it garaged and once the rain came, the water got under the paint and several places started to bubble up and then the paint started to flake off. Looks terrible. Very disappointed, Have always owned a Ford and this is the first time this has happened.

Mustang GT V8

My husband's mustang was purchased used, had one other owner before him, and when he purchased it, there was some minor paint chipping on the hood. Well a couple years later, and that paint chipping is just becoming awful. I mean, mustangs are beautiful cars from afar, but this paint defect that I am reading is more common than I realized, is just rediculous and deters me from purchasing a Ford sports car ever again. We will not be getting it fixed. It's time for a new car soon.

Mustang GT V8

My car is black and the hood scoop area is the worst area as the paint has come off in spots down to the metal, or primer, I guess. Also it is peeling or 'blistering" in front on top of bumper. It looks awful. I have on 48,000 plus miles on my car. I called insurance Co. because warranty has expired and I have comprehensive but car isn't covered because this isn't vandalism, or caused by "hail," etc.

They advised me to check into recalls that Ford had on "bad paint" at one time on some vehicles. Not only this but my daughter has a black mustang and my friend as well. We all have "fogged" headlights due to condensation or something that gets behind them and makes the plastic look scratched thus making it hard to see at night and making the car look ugly. Other cars I see lots older have clear headlights...but not our mustangs.

Also, ALL of our check engines lights came on making it hard to pass inspection just around the 40,000 mile area. Also, some kind of foam stuff falls from the vents...black looking. And the exhaust pours fumes and always smells of gas. It seems that it's been one thing after another suddenly. Even the rubber around the trunk area has come loose making it difficult to close trunk without having to place it back on almost every time I open and close it.

I'll never buy another Ford since all this has happened and apparently they won't repair this damage due to what I've read from above complaints. I knew I should've stuck with Chevrolet!

paint peeling paint peeling paint peeling paint peeling paint peeling

I started having problems with the paint in 2005, also out of warranty. Ford would not honor the warranty as it had expired. The ONLY area of the car subject to paint peeling is the hood. The problem has only gotten exponentially worse as the years went on. I have been using a bra to cover up the very front of the hood but the dents and chips are now far above the bra.

The paint has peeled off all the way to the primer. I wonder if anyone has brought a lawsuit against Ford. This was clearly a flaw in their paint job and they should have to foot the bill. It looks like I am going to have to give in and foot the $700 paint job. That, or let my mustang look like crap. I love my baby too much to do that. Other than the hood problem I haven't had any problems with my mustang.

If the car had paint problems everywhere or it was just sun damage I could understand but, just the hood and only to the primer -- that means the problem is with application and bonding

Was very disappointed in the paint chipping a lot especially on hood part. It chips easily and you you see the Grey primer underneath. Very disappointed when i pointed this out to the ford dealership i bought this from.

I had EXACTLY the same issue! My 2002 sonic blue stang has excessive amounts of paint peeling off the hood. It started as just a small chip and is now peeling in five or six spots -- one spot is now about three to four inches long. I took it to a Ford dealership today and was quoted $700.00 to strip and repaint the hood. The guy who looked at my car acted shocked at the paint chips and asked three times if I had replaced the factory hood. After a few minutes of searching on the internet, I see now that there are TONS of 2002 Mustang paint complaints involving the hood ... and I doubt if my dear friend at the dealership was really surprised at all. The conclusion seems to be the same in every case -- Ford refuses to take the blame. I love my Mustang and for the most part have had little trouble with the car besides this ... but my car went from looking sporty to sh*tty real fast. I am disappointed in Ford on this one.

Paint started peeling on my hood back in 2005, right after the warranty was up on my car. Took it to body repair place, they said it was caused by a bad sealant / primer and was Ford's fault. Ford dealer said they have no knowledge that this happens or that there were problems. If you search the web, you'll see numerous complaints and see this was a common problem around this model year. If you put masking tape on the hood and peel it back off, paint will come with it. Contacted Ford corporate, they said they won't cover because it is out of warranty. Their lack of covering problems like this is why people don't want to buy Ford products anymore, I've even seen the same problems listed for models up to 2005. I JUST WANT MY HOOD REPAINTED ON FORDS DIME.
