Corrosion on front edge of hood resulted in paint flacking off and really made car look bad. Ford really new about this problem but continues to do nothing about it. I still have the old hood.

Have this annoying hood corrosion forming on the front lip. Took it to Ford dealership and said not covered since the car is outside the 3 year/ 36,0000 mile warranty. Quoted a price of $1700 to remove hood/scoop, strip paint, take off stripes, repair corrosion, repaint and re-stripe. Not guaranteed that after the fix it won't come back. If it does or they claim the hood is originally repairable, they stated it would cost $1500 for a new hood WITHOUT paint.

About 2 years ago I removed the bra from my car that I purchased new in 2006. I noticed the paint bubbling around the front of the hood. Also, on top of the hood. I took it Ford, and got the usual run-around--Out of Warranty, etc. I have owned 6 Ford vehicles in my lifetime, and it appears that Ford Loyalty is a thing of the past.

My hood has bubbling paint and I hear there is a lawsuit, it is very ugly and it's a show car so it's hard to hide.

I purchased my 2006 Mustang GT brand new in Colorado on September 2, 2006. In February 2007 I installed 3M clear mask on the hood and I also installed a black bra on the front of the car. This black bra remained on the car until the Spring of 2010 when I removed it and only then did I discover a number of large corrosion bubbles on the topside and underside of the hood along the entire front end.
Ford refused to do anything saying my paint warranty was up. I was very frustrated as judging by the amount of corrosion those bubbles had been there long before the warranty was up. It was simply concealed totally by the bra that covers the topside and underside of the hood. I contacted Ford and pleaded for assistance but they said they would do absolutely nothing for me after numerous phone calls and emails.
I had even researched it and found documentation online showing that this was a problem Ford is fully aware of, caused by their own manufacturing process, whereby the aluminum gets contaminated with iron prior to painting!! Unbelievable, their problem reported as an issue for 2005-2006 models and reported as being corrected in 2007, yet they used the excuse that my warranty was up! This car is immaculate, even now in 2015, yet the hood is corroded. I purchased a bug deflector to conceal it. I also informed Ford in 2011 that I would purchase no more vehicles directly from them and I have not done so since.
This is now a class action lawsuit and I hope that the judge rules that Ford replace all hoods for free. They have a tech bulletin for repair but it does not last. I know of people who did the repair and the corrosion comes back. The only way to fix it is to replace the hood with one that is not contaminated. This is ridiculous that Ford has not been held accountable. Man up Ford, what's wrong with you!

I don't have an exact amount of what it is costing to have this repaired as I don't have the car back yet. The owner of the auto body shop said this was definitely something Ford should have taken care of. When I took it back to the dealership in 2013 they said it was out of their control.

I have a 2006 Mustang GT I have wanted one my whole life. Now I have one that I just really am embarrassed to own! I pay all kinds of money between my car payment and my insurance every month to have my car look like a piece of garbage. My hood started by bubbling and now all the paint is falling off. So after Ford gets all their money, I have a car that looks like trash. The only way to make it look like my dream is to spend even more money to replace the hood.
Every mustang I see that is an 2006 same problem. I even started pointing it out to people . I know a woman who loves her cars and her and her husband have many mustangs and sure enough hers is starting to bubble. I think ford should do the right thing and fix this problem. Because in all honesty at this point I no longer care for this car! Customer service goes way further than anything else in a business and bad news spreads way faster than good news and I don't have anything good to say about this company or this car at this point. I think its ridiculous. I feel I've been ripped off.

Bought the car in 2010 and it only had 22k miles on it. One owner, never seen winters as you can probably tell, based on the mileage being so low. The hood started flaking from under the front lip and has traveled on to the top surface and looks bad, real bad. The rest of the car is in mint condition, no dents anywhere and could be in a car show if it wasn't for the hood peeling. I attempted to have Ford take care of this issue in 2012 and was told no, it was not under any warranty. It's clear that 100s of people have this issue as its all over every blog. This is a manufacture defect and Ford needs to take care of this. I've always been a Ford owner and so has my family and this is the kind of thing that makes you look at other brands for future buying.

I have a 2006 Ford Mustang GT. I am the original owner and take very good care of it. About 4 years ago I noticed the underside of the hood starting to bubble under the paint. Being this was an Aluminum hood, I thought it was strange, but just thought it was poor workmanship in paint. This year I learned of the submission of a Class Action Suit against Ford for this issue. Now I know I'm not the only one and would like Ford to step up and do the right thing.

I have a rare 2006 Legend Lime Green. 1 of 30. worth nothing now because of this problem. My car was beautiful and I am always asked is the hood original because aluminum doesn't rust. I am always having to explain. I am very upset about this. Ford needs to repair the problem. At least it will be worth something if Ford replaces the hood.
Oh, and on another note: what about the new Ford F-150 all Aluminum body. How are they going to handle it when it happens again?

The bubbling returned a few months later after Galloway Ford repaired it under warranty on August 25, 2008. I have been living with this since. If I were to trade this car in this problem would greatly depreciate it's seems value. How can I expect Ford to take care of problems I could have if I bought a new Ford?

Apparently Ford knows there is a problem with contamination to aluminum areas causing corrosion under paint and will not address issue with many complaints.

The paint is bubbling on the front end of my aluminum engine hood. A body shop guy said its corrosion and very common on Mustang hoods, which requires the hood to be sanded and re-painted. Never had this problem with another car, even those with aluminum hoods.

My 06 Mustang GT has the paint bubbling on the front lip of the hood. It has then 25000 miles but it does live outside. I was hoping to be buried in the car, but now that will happen without a hood. Seriously, I had wanted to keep the car with as many of it's factory parts as possible, but now it will need a replacement hood. This will reduce its future value. The car will stay in my family and someday go to my grandsons. It is disappointing it will not have all of its factory parts.

Very annoying to learn that many Mustangs are having the same issue with bubbling or blistering under the paint on aluminum body parts. I've heard his is due to iron contamination of the aluminum panel. Does anyone know if there is a class action lawsuit on this? I hate to drop a thousand dollars to repair or replace the hood with a new aftermarket hood.

Actually just purchased the vehicle used...have always been a Ford buyer and fan. Noticed this corrosion on the edge of the hood....VERY DISAPPOINTED!. I expect the best out of Ford and upon research discover that this is a known problem that Ford chooses to not address properly. I have a 2010 Taurus Limited with the paint peeling off the trim around the taillights and they will also not repair this.
DO I NEED TO MOVE TO ANOTHER VENDOR? It seems that car appearance fit and trim is NOT IMPORTANT to Ford........I hope they restore my faith and take care of this!

Small paint bubbles on the front of the hood, very small but still noticeable. Hust one more notch in the problems with this vehicle.
