Mustang GT Deluxe 4.6L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 176,000 miles

Currently at 176K miles. I got the car at just over 50K miles in 2008. it started around 65-70K miles that I really noticed it. As the miles went on, it started to and continues to be about 50/50 for when ever I put it in reverse under any conditions for it to "clunk". Usually after pausing for a second and then it goes into gear.

Also, at 80K, I had the transmission rebuilt due to the 3rd gear breaking when I accelerated onto the freeway and the insurance as well as dealership refused to pay. So even with the rebuild it still continued to do it.

Update from Mar 30, 2017: 3/29

New solenoid pack on transmission, shifting overall is smoother, but still randomly slow or clunks into reverse

$560 for parts and labor

Mustang V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 62,000 miles

I noticed this last May and couldn't figure out what the problem was and had brought it to the dealership for recall and they test drove my car and never said anything so I overlooked it. Even though it was a pain in the ass.

Mustang 4.0L V6

When the car is put into reverse, it will jerk so hard that you get whip lash and then the engine stalls. POS.
