Mustang Coupe 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,899 miles

Same issue, transmissions just kept going from bad to worse, working fine one day & the other making me fear the car was going to just stop working in the middle of my commute to work.

Mustang

  • Automatic transmission
  • 76,000 miles

My 2006 standard 6 cylinder Mustang started having transmission problems around 70K. It's steadily getting worse. After having this issue I'm finding out it's commonplace and the Mustang transmissions are WEAK! I never thought I'd have to replace a transmission 8 yrs in. Over $3500 to replace! I don't hot rod the car either, it's not very fast and sucks the gas..and I that I really bad gas mileage. Very disappointed in FORD!

Mustang 4.0L V6

  • Manual transmission
  • 145,000 miles

The Trans on this car is really bad, they need to do a recall and fix this. I have talked to a lot of people with Mustangs and also read online about this issue. The car won't go into second sometimes and also slips out of second a lot. The solution at Ford is to get a new trans. This is an issue when you try to pull out on the road and you need to go to second. Also if you downshift it won't take second and the gears grind.

Ford needs to look at this or lower their repair price for this. This is my first Mustang and when I found this site I saw that the 05,06,07 models are the worst ones on here. Wow. Also the thermostat housing melts due to heat, this causes coolant leak issues. The car clunks when you shift gears and come to a stop. If they would just fix the transmission it would help out a lot.

Update from Mar 23, 2015: Bought another transmission, used from the junk yard. The tranny hs 60k miles. It was installed in a shop with Mercron V transmission fluid. A month later the transmssion started doing the same thing as the old one. Ford needs to replace all the transmssion for the years 2005-2007 models.

Mustang Coupe V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

Transmission started slipping at about 40,000 miles..No more warranty after 36,000. miles of course.

It also Clunks when put in Reverse from Park and when put in Drive from Reverse...

The severity is slowly getting worse to where I will have to eventually replace. I'm at 85,000 miles right now. Dec 2013.

I'm 50 years old with a V6..I babied this car. For the transmission to go at 40,000 miles...WOW..completed dud.

Would not recommend a Ford again especially the MUSTANG. Bad transmissions are seriously expensive.

My fault, I bought a Ford..
