Very disappointed that with only 49,580 babied miles. I was changing the oil and had seen some wetness around the crankshaft behind the crank pully. There was dried white funk which was dried coolant splattered everywhere. I ran the engine while looking underneath and could not see where it was coming from. The water pump weap hole was dry. Well I was thinking possibly a gasket. I would drive it, come back and fluid had been coming out but still could not see where. I was angry that this thing was leaking under 50k miles. Most website post say the t-stat housing being plastic have been known to crack, but it was dry. Anyway I put some radiator stop leak stuff in and that did nothing. So today; and I don't advise this, I jacked up the car put a weight on the gas petal to reve it up to 2,000 rpms and cranked the heater up. In about 10 minutes I had seen a constant drip. I looked underneath and to the left of the weep hole there was coolant coming out of the water pump. I took the pully off the water pump thinking I would see a crack but it is a slit and inside you can see that it was leaking from the shaft seal. What a dumb setup. Why have a weep hole if there is a chance of it leaking where it did on mine? Anyway the dealership wants over $500. I'm doing it myself with new coolant for under $100. and that is with a lifetime warranty pump. Take off the belt, water pump pully, 3 easy to get to hoses, 13 8mm bolts and there you go. Remember to drain the radiator first. 19mm open end to open the drain on the passenger side of the radiator. Total time about 2-3 hrs from old off to new on. Take care.
