problem #2

Dec 122014

Mustang Convertible V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 72,569 miles

In about 6/2014 when the car had about 65,000 miles I noticed a thump noise when hitting larger bumps. I thought it might be the exhaust hitting the car which sounds similar. As time when on it became more frequent, and occurred on smaller bumps. What was found is the rear sway bar bushings were shot and that it required entire rear sway bar replacement to fix... $2000 repair, on 12/12/2014 @ 72,569 miles.

Dealerships know of this problem.

Mechanics say this is a feature that they know about.

The noise sounds like the muffler or tailpipe is banging on the frame.

Check the rear sway bar and links on the ground. Not on the lift, you won't hear!
